The delayed write failure error usually happens when windows (or a program) is trying to write to a device that is dodgy, like a failing hard drive or memory stick.
I doubt very much that your Ipod is on it's way out, so I would suggest that it's a software problem. Try unistalling and reinstalling Itunes (latest version) as that often does the trick.
If it still doesn't work, try plugging the ipod into a different USB port or if you have one, try a different USB cable. If it STILL doesn't work, you may be looking at a dreaded reinstall of the operating system
You may have seen a thread that I started a thread recently asking for help with an ipod nano that windows wouldn't recognise at all, I ended up reinstalling then because all else failed

Hi thanks for the quick response i have already tried uninstalling and then reinstallin itunes and tried every usb port available and still no luck.
I have been dl various music and videos etc etc so would have to back them up first which would take about 200 years.
My pc is running sooooo slow aswell took about 10 minutes to load this page.
ARG!
It is just cracking me up, no wonder i bought a mac is all i will say!
Thanks for the suggestions though.

Is your iPod formatted for Mac or Windows?
If you originally set it up on a Mac then it will be formatted in the Mac disk format, and you'll have to download the
iPod Updater for Windows to reformat it to Windows format for it to be recognised by the PC. Then you'll have to copy all your music back... you do have all your music backed-up somewhere other than your iPod don't you??

@dude
You need a program from symantec called 'RNIS'. It completely removes Norton without having to use the uninstaller. It's almost certainly Norton that's causing the slow start-up, it's a bloody awfull app.
Do a google for RNIS, there's several versions (2003, 2005 etc.) Just get the one for your version of Norton.

No it will not work at all i downloaded and installed ipod updater!
It takes ages and only gives the option to restore and then it says it cant.
I give up on pc's forever they are a pile of shite! End off!
Guess i will just have to live without my ipod untill my mac arrives, oh well!
Cheers for the pointers though guys, it will just have to wait.

Bump, for the benefit of those who start new threads on PC problems *cough* ECS *cough* *cough*
Don't forget to post all of your PC queries here so that I can scratch my head for a bit, give up and let somebody who knows what they're doing answer them for you
