There is no 870.
Sony server has 888 and 690.

The tewwt says his source months ago claimed 870.
Which is wrong.

Maybe variable periscope is main sensor? Middle one is telephoto for long range zoom? Rumour was 3x12mp or 1x50mp 2x12mp

Can you fit a 1/1.7" or larger sensor vertically in such a thin phone/bump? (if the leaked render has some truth to it)

50mp is more likely imo. They'll do digital zoom on that sensor until about 2-3x then switch to periscope for longer range zoom. Since there isn't a fourth camera.

Every year people go crazy with the rumors but Sony always choose the simple solutions.

Sure they can, IMX557 has height of 5.7mm and phone's thickness will be 8.4mm, they can also do double beam bounce instead of one so sensor can be laid out flat as well. But the real question is will the go for even larger sensor to keep big pixel or will they remain with 1/1.7 and decrease the pixels to get 50mp. Who knows what will they deliver. Exterior renders based of CAD file for cases is most likely accurate and so is the camera stack but what's not accurate is the lens spacing and sensor order. From what we've seen so far big main sensor can't be in the middle and they will not make the same mistake like they did with Xperia 1 to place ultrawide in the middle or the bottom.

The bump would be giant.
Also, brands reduce sensor size to increase periscope.

Huawei has 1/3.6" for 10x.
The other 4-5x use 1/2" or smaller.

Also periscope lenses tend to have small apertures. And after zooming optically about 3x on the largest sensor would it really be better to switch to a smaller sensor for 4x?

I think s20u also has the main sensor in the middle.

Wonder if we'll see official renders and specs before the announcement.

Aprerture is relative.
The diameter of aperture can be different for same f value.
The f3.4 used by huawei has larger diameter than the f1.8 used by iphone 11 pro.

** wf1000x 4 certified. I bet it is the 🎁 for 1iii pre-order.

I do not know if this is about xperia. I do not remember other phones that use 16mm UWA and 24mm wide.

Translation deepl

16 + 24 + 35mm main camera, 55 + 180mm secondary camera, the supplier himself cooked, the operation is too down to earth.

"the supplier himself cooked" should be Samsung or Sony?

Not necessarily, It's short term confidentiality ends in late September this year, so if it follows the WF-1000XM3 release schedule, it could be announced in September, long after the new xperia's are announced and released.

Expect the WH-1000XM4 with pre-orders.

I think this means X1III has 3 fixed focal lenght lense in main camera (16+24+35mm), and 2 (55+180mm) in secondary cam. Am I understanding correctly? and if so, is it the firs time in smartphone?

To have just 2 cameras to use 5 focal lengths, they would need at least 50MP for each.

The 16-24-70mm of 1ii is based on FE lenses.
Sony has : 24mm, 35mm, 55mm, 24-70mm, 16-35mm, 70-200mm.

It could be also P50 Pro, but maybe the render of 1iii was just,of one the prototypes and not final one.

Does this mean just mark III or maybe loop design again?
