HSPDA will still be available, but you just cant select it as preferred is all. Like setting 3G/GSM... it will fall back to GSM when out of 3g range and visa-versa.

I've updated from 038 on the O2 network, the phone seems faster but there are still a few problems;
If you go into your txt inbox and select 'mark several' then tick (I have found 20 or more messages) then delete all marked the phone screen goes blank but the keypad stays lit. It stays like this for about 10seconds before coming back on again but the txt's have not been deleted, this has happened every time I have tried it.
The media player has been sped up but it still takes a second or so to catch up if I am scrolling through songs quickly (I have a sandisk 8gb micro sd card that has 4gb of music on it). It is still a waste of time trying to multitask on this phone though while listening to music as its still slow.
I've never had a problem with any java app's or games on 037 or 038 and this f/w seems to be the same so no complaints there.
The camera doesn't appear to be hugely different although the macro focus does seem to be more stable now and not affected by a shaky hand as much as before.
The most impressive thing so far for me though is the battery life. I put the new firmware on at just gone 5:30pm and the battery was at 60% when this finished (it was not fully charged to start with). Since then I have taken about 13 pics, listened to a few songs, tried a few java games sent around 20 txts and had a 25min phone call and the battery is on 52%. This is a great improvement over the frankly terrible battery life 038 f/w offered.
All in all it was a worth while update, maybe not as groundbreaking as we may have liked but welcome none the less.

damn., so how can u use HSDPA
That's no problem! Master Reset doesn't kill HSDPA support, i'm still downloading at over 1mbit on my MacBook with the K850i as modem. In the standby screen it shows 3G in a blue icon, where it should officially be a 'H' when on HSDPA. But this is cosmetic.
My phone didn't give me enough time to find out where the third option in the GSM/3G menu was for. I was hoping i could set the phone fixed on 3G/HSDPA. The reason is that handover between 3G and GSM isn't going smooth all the time at the T-Mobile NL network: This causes to be unreachable after switching till you make a outgoing call. But i saw people here who we're logging in to GSM which the HSDPA setting active. So this isn't it.
Neiter it isn't to set preferred access to the HSDPA network. Even with 037 my phone was connecting to the HSDPA network where available, falling back to GSM in uncovered areas.
@JiSm: You say the setting is to set preferred access to HSDPA. However, everywhere where is HSDPA coverage, the phone would switch to that network on R1CA037 also (if 3G was selected). This third setting seems quite meaningless, or am i missing something?
And yes, i have a 'worry-much-on-little-problems- day

@ 1889
Thanks. The photos are nice. But with document setting I'm already satisfied with the sharpness and details of photos taken.
I don't like all the other modes, because there are nearly no details in full size, even if you take pictures in 3MP resolution.

Anyone know anything about a North American unbranded release?
Are you sure there is such a thing? I mean SE hasn't started selling unbranded phones Officially in NA so pretty much ALL of the unbranded phones in North America come from other regions - check your Service Info > Software Info on your phone and see what it lists for prgXXXXXX_ Mine lists CHINA_SO

CHINA_SO is actually part of APAC_ANZ isn't it?
Coz mine also is CHINA_SO, but pluging it to XS++ version 3.1 mine says it is APAC_ANZ.
But still, no firmware for us... Poor us...
