@nhalliday

you might find that the S60 version of desktop s/w for Handy Safe which worked with my M600 had more import/export options. I'll try this later today.

@sleepyhead, wow lovely pictures. Can't wait for my TyTN to arrive, it looks so small! May have the same view as you once I actually get it but looking forward to the package arriving now.

Cheers. I'll hopefully make a decision later today as to which one stays and which one goes.
Don't get me wrong the TyTN is a lovely piece of hardware, but I'm just not sure if it is for me yet.

First of all congrats to all that received their p990i's...

I got mine this morning at 8.30am from expansys and true to their word it was pre 9am delivery so am very very impressed although i paid quite a premium for it...£600
Anyways instead of getting one unit, i seemed ot have received 2 . Now i dont know if expansys have charged me twice but im going to have to ring them up to query it. But i have a funny feeling that the 2nd one was sent in error, so perhaps i should keep it and sell it for £500?? .....nahhh to be honest im much too honest for my own good and i dont like ripping others off. Its probably their mistake and i know a few would say keep it but thats not my style of play as i wouldnt appreciate it if someone tried to rip my company off. So probably will send it back to them.

Anyways what can i say about this phone, what a piece of kit...honestly im gobsmacked by the sheer quality of it. Its a wide phone, wider than the p800/900/910 series of phones but its much lighter and thinner i find. Ive had it my back pocket while coming to work and have had to check on numerous occasions to see if its still there lol.

Now ive only played with it quickly but this is a question to all the people who received their phones with expansys. The thing is ive went through most of the menus and to me it seems that its missing the email part of messaging in the message menu...has anyone else found this or is it just me??. Im surprised that its not in there unless im missing something....anyone help??.
Also the other thing is the RSS feeder, again couldnt see it in the menu's...any idea as to where it is??.
I had a look at the demo and it seems the email and rss feed bits are in there but in my phone they arent??.

Also just to add my p990i came with the bst33 battery, was kinda hoping id get the bst 34 battery instead..might have to invest in one later

Any help would be mucho appreciated.

Again congrats to all that have one, id definitely recommend one solely on the basis of its physical size. Anyone who says its a brick clearly hasnt a clue, if anything my k800i is more of a brick

@ Jah

Thanks for that. I didn't get around to trying your suggestion, as I managed to answer my own question in the end.

I searched my PC for the safe.dat and safe.ind files, and selected the correct ones (i.e. the ones which were NOT created today when I downloaded the latest Handy Safe Desktop). Then I just copied them into the P990's Handy Safe folder, replacing the exisiting versions.

A quick sync with the PC, and I'm pleased to report that all is well.

Not sure that "Joe Public" would be up to this type of thing though - maybe Epocware need to add some kind of import/export utility...

' BAH!!!!

' Well most of y'all can then consider yerselves pretty lucky methinks... I just spoke to my primary supplier (which tends to be pretty-much ahead of the pack as far as getting just-released and cutting-edge stuff before most others, and who's staff generally are pretty well-informed and understand the tech. etc. - unlike MOST others) here in South Africa... And while I haven't confirmed it elsewhere, doing so might be a bit of a waste of time from my perspective anyways as my insurance company has signed off replacing my stolen P900 via these guys anyways - now twisting their arms to try get 'em to sign-off another company could be either or both painful and catastrophic.
' Anyways. Spoke to said supplier. Turns out there is stock sitting available and waiting here already... Problem is their suppliers haven't yet made pricing available...

' I was told that they could arrange for a handset ANYWAYS - but due to inaccurate and unknown pricing models they'd have to charge over DOUBLE the expected price if that's what I wanted.
' Otherwise, they expect they should receive pricing in about (or within... With Murphy at play these two different words probably mean the same thing under these circumstances) two weeks!!!!!

' ARGHSSGHHGHHH!!!! <gurgles!>

' Sigh. I suppose I'll continue to bother 'em every few days just in case the worst-case-scenario doesn't become gospel.
' But there you have it. I have another two weeks to go approximately before my life is complete. <sighs & smiles sadly>

Now the question is flip on or flip off...i want to take the flip off, but you cant customise the button icons e.g. have messaging there (like the M600) which means to send a txt with a flip you need to go to applications/messages...which seems like such a long way of doing things...am i missing something?

No problem hayne, i wont lie to you though...its a fair bit wider than the previous p-series but as i said i find it lighter and thinner.

Give it a few more weeks and the price will come down a bit more, the funny thing is i just rung up expansys and they have no re-collection of sending me 2 p990i's lol...hmmmm i could sell it for £500 and make some quick money on it....hmmmm decisions decisions
