Note: Bashing of Apple and their 3 generation copy and paste design which they
copied from Sony (2006) or their absolutely ludicrous law suit against Samsung for copying, I'm completely fine with here.

I too love the NXT design - I'm using the XS. The white body and the light-bar is just so beeeautiful with the brightness mod installed. Hopefully they are more brave on the design of the light bar on the next NXT series. Maybe just the exact same XS with edge to edge 4.6-8 inch and light bar v.2 and i'll be grateful.
The TX also looks very clean and elegant. But why did Sony choose the T as the poster child ??? - they have the same specs but T is uglier? I don't think James Bond would choose the T over the TX.
I find it looks awful beside the TX with the unnecessary sloped chin on the front bottom, cluttered with buttons on the side/back bottom and kills the arc curve. It looks more like a HTC level of design than a Sony.
Also, anyone have any official word from Sony why they released so many identical phones for 2012??

So when Apple releases three identical phones in a row in three different years, they deserve to be bashed for lack of innovation. But when Sony releases 20+ twin phones in only one year, uglier than any iPhones far, its called "series" and they get praised for that! Any explanation?

Maybe they thought flooding the market with many models (like Samsung) will mean a wider range of choice for consumers (and operators) to choose from & will translate into more sales. I think this is definitely better for the consumer.

Ok, convince me:
The fact that the 2012 Xperias were designed by the same design team, which designed the 2011 Xperias means nothing. It just shows that they've run out of ideas and need to be replaced. So Sony needs to start the 2013 with firing the current design team and getting new people with fresh ideas.

Given the circumstances of SE-Sony, I'm pretty sure the only reason is because the Sony wanted to flush out all the SE products that were in the pipeline, get them out there and start with a clean slate for 2013, both financially and materially.
From an accounting perspective that makes sense if they can control themselves not to do this anymore in the near future.
But, do you believe Sony understands the simplified products model like Apple's? Seems a mixed bag...
Viao laps- has 4 lines Z/E/S/T, E&S are the same crappy stuff no one cares about, they could definitely cut that down and improve the remaining models in terms of build materials and pricing. There is currently not 1 reason to get a Viao over a Macbook other than OS preference.
Nex/Alpha- 4 Nex models and a few more Alphas, clearly differentiated, class leading, looks good
Bravia - 4 lines again, 1 line is clearly garbage and out priced by LG/Vizio with little differentiation and the business is not even making money.
Well being as conservative as Sony is, I don't think they can go full on simplification like Apple because they further have management, sales and distribution problems but hopefully 2012 is as bad as it gets for Sony Mobile.

To be fair, changing a design for one phone every 12months is an easy task. Doing it for 20 phones a year is obviously going to be more difficult.
