Viao laps- has 4 lines Z/E/S/T, E&S are the same crappy stuff no one cares about, they could definitely cut that down and improve the remaining models in terms of build materials and pricing. There is currently not 1 reason to get a Viao over a Macbook other than OS preference.
.....

1. Way off topic imo.
2. You don't really seem to know what you're talking about when it comes to Vaio notebooks. E&S same crappy stuff no one cares about? E perhaps, S though? No way. Perhaps you confuse S with C? Also, there are still many reasons to get a Vaio over a Macbook besides OS preference (price, high resolution on smaller models, Z's awesome matte screen, S / Z's weight : performance ratio, Quad SSD, more customization options).

Either way, more on topic, personally I'm happy Sony still has many mobile phone models and still has some decent mid range models with smaller display sizes. Would love to see the SX to release here though, any rumors on that?

So when Apple releases three identical phones in a row in three different years, they deserve to be bashed for lack of innovation. But when Sony releases 20+ twin phones in only one year, uglier than any iPhones far, its called \"series\" and they get praised for that! Any explanation?

This year:

Sony have presented two distinct series of phone, one of them new (NXT series) and one of them an improvement and update on an award winner (Arc series). The Arc series lead handset (Xperia T) sees Sony push the envelope design wise by experimenting with side buttons for one handed usage. That's bold, brave design work and thinking about how to improve usability. The TX offers the other side of the coin in terms of more traditional button layout.

Apple have presented no new designs, and as stated by >500, they only had one phone to deal with. A child could have drawn the iPhone 4 a bit bigger and called it the iPhone 5. Is it a design that pushes what we believe and tries to change opinions or the way we use things? No.

I'm not saying that the Sony designs are perfect, there is no such thing. But, the TX is a damn good looking phone, and the Xperis S earlier this was year also a very original design. Apple have been lazy and deserve to be bashed for it. They're milking an old design and pulling the wool over people's eyes by claiming all their ideas are original. Doing any tiny amount of research will show that 90% of the patent and copyright lawsuits against all the big android manufacturers are absolutely groundless. My bashing of Apple is not that they're non-innovative thieves but that they lie about it. Apple didn't invent touchscreen phones, they didn't invent multi-touch and they didn't invent pinch-zoom. In my opinion, by falsely suing every competitor in the market and presenting copies as originals they are the anti-innovationists of the moment (and pure evil).

@mediar,
sorry to burst your bubble, but SE was what it was because of Sony in the first place. Hope you can remember Walkman and Cybershot phones. Who owns those brands? SE was in a pathetic situation, they were making sad phones. Good designs, but weak hardware. I know how pathetic Xperia X10 was compared to the competition. Thanks to the devs at xda it was finally usable. Thank goodness Sony bought SE out of its misery. If you want SE back and those 2011 designs, please buyout Sony's mobile division, by spending a few billion dollars and ask them to design custom phones for you. btw, SE was a failure, thats why it doesn't exist anymore. Nobody killed it. Nobody had to. Xperia X10 would have been my last SE phone anyway. Just stopped bothering about SE.

2012 designs have turned a lot of heads, more than what SE's 2011 designs could. You can argue all you want, they are just your opinions, not facts. I have my opinions too. For example, Xperia Neo and Xperia pro looked candy-ass and cheap. You're probably the only person here who doesn't like the 2012 designs. You're not even a minority.

Do you think everyone on this forum is an idiot ? The only reason all the 2012 phones look the same in this pic (even the tablets) is because all the pictures are in the same angle, have the same black color, have the same homescreen and on top of that pics are so tiny that naturally all of them look the same.

Now compare that with the 2011 portfolio pics have different colors, different homescreens and different angles.

Why don't you post large size photos of all 2012 phones and prove they all look the same ?

Oh, so you tell me I need a very large photo of each phone, in order to spot the very little differences? Irony...

Ok, you wanted bigger photos, here they are ( photos taken from here - http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/ ):

Same angle, bigger size. You're right about the colors, the 2011 Xperias are colorful, but so are the 2012 Xperias as well ( a few grey and white and one pink, even though this applies to the 2011 Xperias as well ). I bet you haven't spotted that. Why? Look here:

So you arguments about the color are invalid. And, of course, that black depressing UI...

@Ricky D - Apple's patent wars are other story. And they're really to be blamed. Even though they have some right to be mad - they sure weren't the one who invented the pinch-to-zoom, slide to unlock, only-one-button design and so on, but they were the first to combine all these simple but genius ideas in a single device. It wasn't Nokia, Samsung, LG or SE, but Apple, who made these things popular among the mass-market and we should give some credit to them. Think about it! But now I'm talking about the design of the iPhone.

@jesonk - I'm minority here, because this is Sony fan site. But Sony's market share shows different story. Now you insult the design of the 2011 Xperias, but I'm sure you've been one of the many here last year, who praised their design. Which makes you blind Sony fanboy, allowing Sony to control your mind aka being brainwashed. This year they tell you this is great. You agree. Next year they tell you the new product is great and the previous one was rubbish. You agree again. No thinking here. That not good. It seems the zombie apocalypse is near, and the zombies are definitely not coming from outer space or underground. We're turning into zombies, allowing other people to control our mind. I, unlike you, have my own viewpoint, which hasn't changed through the years at all. I blamed LG last year for having ugly design. This year Sony Xperias' design is identical to LG's one last year. But, instead of changing my mind, like you all do, and start liking this ugly black brick-like design, I blame Sony for that decision as well. As simple as that. BTW: that's the reason you're never going to change my mind, no one can do it.

Mediar has a point and you can't deny it, I can feel his passion man.

The only phones in 2012 that truly screamed "SONYYYYY" was the NXT series, but there were only 4/16 phones; and in that only 1 high end; the S at launch.

The rest 12/16 phones from Arc or some other series phones are just designs gravitating towards the Android ghetto-boxes LG/Sam/htc and it makes fans maaaaddd 'cause even if there is a minuscule chance, we're so afraid someday Sony may become one of them

Hopefully iPhone will come in 4.8" when that ever happens !

@die-hard sony fans - I know, the truth hurts, so if you want to keep your blind groundless faith in Sony ( while they treat you as sh*t and take your money at the same time ) you really need to ignore my posts. At least I tried my best to explain you the reality, but if you want to live in your imaginary world, its fine. I don't care about you, I just give up. Let Sony take full control of your brains.
