this isn't the ultra thread so this is the last thing i'll say bout it..

i think there will be a ZU2 whether they sold a lot of ZU or not. it was their first play into the phablet realm and i don't think they are ready to bail yet. as long as the note is there and is successful, sony will give it a go. their first try was good but not great. their next one needs to make note users really think twice.

my Z1 is also on stock sony everything. strange that yours looks different. can you screen shot it and post?

Here on PC it looks great. But look at the pics down how it looks real when you use the phones.
On the last pics you can see the Z is whiter than Z1. Sorry for the bad samples from Mega Cam.

Z left - Z1 right

Can anybody help, I was looking at the photo section on the Xperia Z1 and I noticed there are 2 different resolutions in 8MP for example in a photo I have taken the resolution is 8.29 megapixels (3840 x 2160) but in another photo by Theboxes215 it is 7.99 megapixels (3264 x 2448). Why and how is the pixel count different I know my photo was is 16:9 and the other at 4:3 but would that actually make a difference. If anybody can shed any light on this that would be great.

the 8mp 4:3 is a downsampled version of the 20mp capture. the 8mp 16:9 is a straight 8mp capture. that's why there's a difference in pixels.

Ah now I get it, thanks does that mean the 4:3 image has better quality with it being a downsampled image because I always take photos in 8MP 16:9 manual mode just so it fills the the screen never once did I think it may produce a better image.

@xperiajunkie: it's supposed to have more detail and better quality, yes. but to be honest i've never done a side by side to compare.

@moogoo Cheers for your help mate

@Miki think that's about right with the ratings, really can't wait for the big upgrade for the Z1 then it will (if not already) be the best Android camera by far even beating the S4 Zoom

Fully agree mate, quite fair have to say....

As for "big" update, not so sure anymore. Something tells me this will come with new device (Mar-Apr '14, Z2 or whatever called) and just maybe after that to Z1

I guess time will tell.

Cheers,
Miki
