@JohnnyNr.5: Why do you keep saying 12 months? Even if you would have mentioned the Z1f, it wouldn't be 12 months, let alone Z1 Compact. 720p is still enough. 16 GB ROM is unfortunately something that all Xperias suffer. 2 GB RAM would be a bit disappointing though, when you consider that the Z2 already had 3 GB and the Z3 Compact should be "the best of Sony in a compact waterproof smartphone"...

@JohnnyNr.5
I really do not understand how your way of thinking, you say you are looking for the best value for money.
I have no doubt that the IP6 will be a great phone but i don't think its the best value for money + IP6 will most likely have relatively the same size with some other 5" phones.

Just like i said before as far as i know at least for now Nexus phones is the best value for money high-end specs with affordable price and great update support.

@ Detox Okay, my mistake. Z1-f was presented in October, so 11 month than. Sure 720p is enough, but it's just not about one spec. If you update a device once a year,like Sony does it with the Comapct, I as a consumer expect decent spec upgrade. If I walk into a store and see both devices and spec sheets side by side I would ask my self why to pay more for almost the same device. Sure if you are on contract and get both for the same price it would be another story.

@Hilmawan Imo It's not only the hardware, but also software and ecosystem which defines the value of a smartphone . The Iphone is an overpriced peace of hardware, but you get a well build device with decent specs and even if its kinda sounds shallow, it's a "status symbol".

P.S. I hope you guys don't think that I'm trying to troll. I love Sony products, except for my display, all of my e-stuff (vaio, bravia, walkman, headset, ps3....) is made by Sony. I'm just disappointed, that's all.

@stook I'm glad they are staying at 720p, 1080p would again be overkill at that size and wouldn't give any benifit to the user but would have a negitive effect on the battery.

Complaints about silicon should be aimed at Qualcomm.
Yes they have the 805, but it doesn't have an integrated LTE baseband, which means power consumption will be far too high. They got complacent and as such, the SoC market slowed down in 2014.

EDIT:

For the "Compact" line of phones, the rest is all down to physics. How much heat can you tolerate in a body that thin and small. Smaller phones inherently have a lower thermal capacity.

No need to worry I really do not care if you trying to troll or not, because i'm not some die hard sony fanboys the Z2 and K750i is the only Sony products that i ever used in entire my life.
I just do not agree with some of your opinion or complaints, but i agree with the iPhone being a status symbol.

Both devices will be a really worth upgrade for owners of arc/arc s/s/z. if you don't like a one of a kind high end android compact then you probably don't really need a new phone. no need to complain.

Yeah.. a pretty sad picture overall. There was only one other OEM that could've gone head to head with Sammy but they chose a different path.

If Sony manage to compete with LG I would consider that as success.. Samsung is out of the picture for them at this point.

Absence of anti-shatter films and bigger screen-to-front face ratio is a huge update for me. Those two factors stopped me from buying z1 compact.
