Increase the EV on N8 isn't a good deal...
If the contrast are high,it will burn some colors and make the pic looks surreal. (if the EV are high too)
Personally,i prefer X10 for macro shots under daylight .
The quality on N8 is top but,the X10 looks more pleasant.

That's what I'm saying, with EV +0.7, N8 has the exposure equivalent to X10's EV 0.0. That's why I always lower my EV while N8 owners up theirs. In other words, nothing's perfect

You can't compare 2 different angled photos even in bright daylight because shooting at the sun and shooting against it produces results as different as day and night. If you wanna make a comparison make sure it is the same angle of the same environment and object at the same time. In other words bring both phones and shoot the same object side by side. There are a lot of tips that don't involve full auto setting a few posts earlier that you can try to get a different result. The most basic for me is try lowering the EV to -0.7 against the sun, it would've brought out better colours, exposure and contrast in the photo you posted

Maybe I have a lemon/defect x10 or something.. not sure... I've tried playing with the EV as well, but all it did was made the picture look dimmer

Both pictures were taken with the sun behind me. I don't have my old phone with me anymore, but going through my stash oh photo, those were pretty much the common theme across two cameras.

I used to have the SE k790 and k850. Both took better photo than my x10 in my opinion.

Are there any camera driver mod like the k790/k850 back in the days? I tried one on XDA (forgot the name) and I don't notice any difference at all

Here is a couple more example, both on a nice sunny day in door with glass roof, similar angle and sun behind me

Should I not be using touch caputre? will scene recognition fair better? I'm not a big fan of x10's shutter button as i always end up shaking the camera pressing it (the button is too hard/tight)

1 - Don't use touch capture
2 - Turn off image stabilizer
3 - Turn off face recognition (or choose an specific type of focus)
4 - CLEAN YOUR LENS
5 - Always try to use the EV in a negative value under sunny light and try the Beach & Snow scene. (it makes almost miracles)

1 - Tried using Normal Mode today, same result
2 - Image Stabilizer was never on
3 - Face recognition was never on
4 - My phone is about 3 months old, so I don't think the inside is dirty. Tried cleaning the outside, same result
5 - Tried playing with the EV, (-0.3 to -1) and all it did was dim the picture. Tried Beach & Snow, made the picture even more yellow-ish

Looks like I have a lemon

Hey guys, a few days ago I changed my Metering from Centre to Average, and I've taken even better photos than I usually do with it. Why would that be?

Also, why is it recommended to turn the image stabiliser off?

Finally, I always use touch capture, because pressing the button moves the phone and blurs the photo!

Centre Metering involves measuring the light levels of the centre of the camera viewfinder, and the average metering works by taking light levels from several places of the view finder and calculates them all for a better representation of the light levels.

Because Image Stabiliser will apply extreme noise suppression (I guess by having faster shutter speed, the increased amount of noise that comes with it would have to be eliminated in this manner) and kill off detail. I like this feature though and I use it mainly when I want others to take photos of me in poorly lit conditions like for instance during dinner at a restaurant where I don't have to worry if the waiter has shaky hands But I won't use it under my own handling
