Sony won't do anything crazy. I won't believe such rumors until I see it announced. If they choose a 50mp sensor I doubt they'd go larger than 1/1.5" ish.

That most likely refers to width of 67mm which is impossible. They have to find 2mm per side to shave off which is very unlikely. There are reports that frame got thinner and that is most likely true but we are talking about maybe, just maybe 1mm per side in the best case scenario. If they can get the width at 70mm or barely under that would be an achievement.

Digital zoom degrades quality, you would no longer have 3840 x1644 ..
