Just to report that after a bit of trepidation, I updated my k750i (unbranded, T-mobile USA) from R1L002 to R1AA008 without a hitch. I haven't fully tested things, but all seems to be in order.

apparently basing from the release of R1N prior to R1L if these trends continue i think we'll have the next firmware by late Feb or early March.
fixing some bugs yes... all? hhmmm do you believe in miracles???
hehehe just teasing! well i guess its up to us how to maximize the usefullness of the latest firmware releases.
ciao yall!

dont want to be redundant.. just wanted to reiterrate.
here is the little story of my K750
--------------------------
mine has no hissing sounds during calls or either low volume mp3. i got R1AA from a Davinci upgrade of R1N035.
from R1L China (ZN), i made to EU2 for FW (R1N) and America 2 as the CDA.
and then tried upgrading to R1AA using SEUS 2. luckily it went thru like a breeze.
and then here is the details...
R1AA008

take note ITP SW it sez there R1B, from the likes of it i think it should be R1D/E wot do u guys think?
is there any anomaly in there? tho my fon is perfectly fine. noticed volume change.. it was louder than R1N. and the screen now is crispier (for the colors and image sillouhettes that is).
i have made the update like around 2-3 weeks ago.
so all you techie guys out there.. check yer stats compare it to the one above... notice the hissing if there is any on yer fon... coz i dont hear it on my fon..
peace yall!

Well if I was you I'd leave it as it is. Be thankfull you can't get the service to work.
R1AA008 has to be the worst firmware I've used and I've been had them all.
My main problem with it is the speed, it's really slow. Takes a good couple of seconds to change to any screen. Very anoying. I can open up a new text message and wrtie the first word before I can even see it.

Hi, its me again.
Does anybody know if its absolutely necessary to remove the sim card from the phone when trying to update? I got a silicon case for my w800 and its a pain to remove it only for my phone getting flashed with the same R1N035.
10X.
No it isn't

@Aldrew
I would suggest a Master Reset if your phone is running slow, and potentially a reformat of the memory stick. R1AA is certainly not inherently slower than any previous firmware. In fact I would say it is the best, all things considered.

People, I need all the advice you can give me. I'm afraid I'm bumping into the same script update failure issue again and again using the latest SE update client...
Got my K750i last week, unbranded and all, installed all the relevant drivers plus the new beta SE update client, fully charged the phone, followed all the steps of the procedure to update from R1N035 to R1AA038..Nada...The thing stuck at the penultimate rectangle with the famiiliar "error executing script, please try again" message.
So far I have tried the following:
1. D/ling the client again, removing app, re-installing app.
2. Master resetting the handset
3. Removing the memory stick and performing the update again
4. Changing the USB port I connect the phone on the pc
It's obvious that upon the update I'm stuck with a half-complete R1AA008 set, since this is the software info:

Any ideas?
