@northmonkey I do think the Z1 has the best camera on any Android device that would also include the S4 Zoom (unless its a flash test). The reason I think its the best is mainly down to the fact that anybody can take decent shots in SA mode and if you spend time with manual mode and tinker about with the settings it can take some fantastic shots that no Droid can match. One other thing I like is the camera UI which I also think is best among Android. Yes manual controls can be a bit subjective in the lack of shutter speed and so on but these are things Sony could bring with future updates and if the camera progresses like the one on the Z which did'nt have the best camera at launch but did get better as time goes on then I'm sure the Z1 will be a contender for best camera phone for some time to come.

The LED light is decent enough for close objects and will probably light up a small room enough to take a decent image.
I never us the zoom on a phone but the 3x clear zoom again is ok but would only recommend it if it is needed maybe just best to crop your image and see what you think is best.

I have just take 2 photos very quickly one with flash and one without

as you can see there was only a tiny anmount of ambiant light coming from the PC monitor in the room at the back. This is not done to show the quality of the photo but the power of the LED flash.

What's up with the swearing?
What it has got to do with me? Well for starters, you post in a forum, on a topic i happen to read. I remember you clearly stating before that you feel that Sony has learned nothing from the Xperia Z and that you sold that one and bought a S4. That was besides the negativity on Sony in general.
Then you come back here and ask the same questions you've asked before. So honestly, i ask you.... why???
Are you not happy with your S4? Are you considering to buy the Z1? Please tell me

And last but not least : You don't appreciate it?

Ok. One question: Does anyone knows if unlocking the bootloader still breaks the camera? My friend is addicted to CM, and he wants to buy the Z1 due the big screen and waterproof, but wants to use CM, but don't want to lose the camera lol...

16MP Gionee Elife E7 claims to be the best Android cameraphone

Elife E7 main camera has 16 megapixels of higher than the usual 1.34 µm size, and there's also an 8 megapixel front-facing shooter. The primary lens is based on the Largan M8 solution and is said to deliver sharp images.

Gionee Elife E7 will be up for grabs from December 5 in Black, White, Blue, Pink, Green, Yellow and Orange color options. The 16 GB variant is priced at 2,699 Yuan (about $443), while the 32 GB model caries a price tag of 3,199 Yuan (about $525). The smartphone will also hit markets outside of China in early 2014.

could this be a threat to the Z1's crown for what I think is the best Android cameraphone ?

The pixel size indicates 1/2.3" sensor size.

Most probably it is using this sensor below

looked nice til i saw that big bump for the lens!

and is it me or does their theme look very iOS7 ?

plus, doesn't look like there's a shutter key boo!

time will tell if the quality is any good. i'm fairly sure Z1 will hold its own quite well. especially after it gets updated some more..

thats what I thought iOS7 rip off would be good to see a head to head shoot-out between the 2 once it is released.
