Like I said earlier

It is the same SoC it just got renamed. They are both Quad Core Krait 300 CPU`s. The 600 is just overclocked to 1.7 GHz.

No its not the same SoC. Its the same architecture but there has been improvements made to the CPU cores and memory subsystems. Its like saying Ivy Bridge is just a renamed Sandy Bridge

At the same clock, S600 is 15% faster than APQ8064. Qualcomm themselves state 40% faster than APQ8064 but this is at 1,9 GHz, i expect S600 at 1,7GHz to be somewhere between 25-30% faster than APQ8064

Why dont they borrow engineers from their camera division? Its a shame that they make amazing cameras. they can also use their audio technologies from walkman. And its very odd for a company making TVs and havng JDI to have a screen that is not on par with the competitors
Hopefully ONE SONY will really bring the best of SONY:wink:

I know a lot of people will not like this but to me it seams like Sony is using grade B displays and camera sensors to save on components to have a bigger profit margin.

^high profit margin but low sales and revenues compared to the top dogs.
Hopefuly the upcoming devices will resolve the issues.

That's why humans are likened to sheep. We blindly follow. Until last week, everyone was going ga ga over the Z. Now, just because a couple of reviewers claimed that the display has poor contrast, we agree with them? A competitor launches a device and we start bashing the Z? 1.7 ghz quad is better than 1.5 ghz quad? Barely makes a difference in real life! Now people are thinking about waiting for the H2 phone!

There will ALWAYS be a better phone just round the corner. So such comparisons are meaningless. The Z is a great phone, a big step forward for Sony. And easily the most beautiful device announced till now. Easiest way to decide is judge for yourself. Go okay with it before buying. Give in your money only if you like what you see.

What Sony deserves is applause, not brickbats. If anybody was expecting them to steal the show, they were expecting a bit too much. Sony is just finding a foothold. The Z just sounds the alarm. Sony is ready to take on the competition.

@Joseph What's with S800...??? Bro, when Sony releases a phone with S800, there'll news abt apq8084... Then people will want Sony to put that chipset in their phones... There'll always be a better one around the corner as Karun stated...!!!

Manufacturers should focus on software optimization, new features and battery.

Sony doesn't deserve praise for giving us a slick Optimus G. Hard truth is that Z's SoC is outdated in terms of raw performance. S4 pro is not competitive in a 2013 flagship. Fact is that even with Z, Sony is still lagging behind competition in terms of SoC technology.
With HTC One and Galaxy 4 around the corner, Z is no match.

Important thing is that this (lagging trend) is about to change, however until it does those facts remain valid.
