If you're bored, I need a hand with some maths, I've completely forgotten how to do this, and I need to know, as it's pretty much 100% going to be in my exam:
Given that
x^2 +4x +c = (x+a)^2 + b
find a
The answer is 2, but i need to know how, the really annoying thing is that I know it's dead simple but I really can't remember.

Pretty much yeah, it's a slightly simplified version of pure called core, most of the new maths AS & A level courses have adopted this as the norm.
