Hey randomuser, any idea why pictures taken with the TX seem to be far better than those taken with the T? They seem to have far less noise and perform better in low light from pics I've seen so far. Maybe it's due to updated software?

Actually I wonder the same and don't really have no idea why or even a guess
Even earlier when we had TX sample leak and then GX went on sale in Japan, people complained that the GX pictures are nowhere as good as the sample photos taken with TX.

Now the T seems to be the same as GX. It might be that the TX is using a slightly different sensor than the T, and Sony only has limited numbers of that particular sensor so only TX gets it as TX is exclusive to Asia alone. I don't for sure I'm just speculating.

Sony needs to get a new head of naming devices. How many posts here, a Sony fanboard, have we seen Acro and Arco mixed up?

Wasn't TX the one pictured next to a One X (posted a few pages ago) flaunting its wide viewing angles? Now, reviews point to T's poor viewing angles. Seems TX has different tech inside compared to T, just like V.

Shootout: Nokia 808 PureView vs Sony Xperia T.

In my opinion the T takes good pictures. Those are as good as the TX samples

Sorry, but the Xperia T photos aren't nearly as good or sharp when viewing full sized. This whole thing with the T and the TX is a bit of a mystery.

Well whatever it is, I hope it's solved by the time next gen phones come out as that'll be when I make my purchase

EDIT.
And yeah, I know it's stupid to compare the T to the Pureview 808, but the T has more noise in t than I would hope

yea I see the PureView has a hugely better picture.

The flower picture - the pureview can show the pink petals as translucent under the sun's rays. With the T all that area is smudged
The sign picture - the right side (reflected area) is still blue and not overexposed and washed out as with the T.
The dog picture - you can clearly see the words on the collar with the pureview

The difference is like going from a kit lens to a L lens on Canon DSLR.

I'm afraid the T camera has not been improved at all since the S after reading the T review on gsmarena; it's even slightly worse than S3.

TI is winding up its smartphone/tablet chipset business Wish they sold it to Sony instead of closing it down.

Well they have no modem business, its hard to compete without one. They have had almost no devices this year with their socs. ST-Ericsson is better in this regard, with their Thor line, especially their 7400 which is gonna be epic. Still the Soc market is extremely competitive and the next one to go is probably ST-ericsson if they dont get their act together. Qualcomm, Nvidia and Samsung will probably take the whole market.
