Take two cameras, with similar lenses, same quality of sensor etc, but one happens to be 3mp, the other 8mp. You're saying at full resolution the 3MP will pick up as much detail as 8MP? They don't just make the same picture bigger, they capture more detail with more pixels!!

It's no good just taking 3 different pics in different resolutions with the same phone, the phone has 8mp loaded on it's sensor so every signal pic you take is always at 8mp the phone then uses it sofware to resize it, a deadicated 3mp camphone would have just as much detail as a 8mp or probley more as less noise reduction is needed because the sensor isn't as overloaded. The s700 took more detailed pics than my C702 and thats only 1megapixel but the ccd sensor/optics made all the difference.
Please, stop talking. You're making a fool out of yourself.

I don't care what i'm doing, longs i'm the 1 not being fooled by the megapixel marketing gimmic i'm buying the phones with the better quality cams & saving money i must be the biggest fool here.
http://6mpixel.org/en/ and bare in mind the the c905 is just a phone and sensor is 1/1,8″” in size max.

I agree colour & exposure is top, but the quality is awful far to post processed. even iso64 full daylight pics are heavily post processed.

I know exactly what the marketing gimmicks are, and I understand the limitations of camera phones with poor optics, and smaller sensors. I also think the C905 pics have too much noise reduction, but you are avoiding the argument.
You said 3mp and 8mp pictures capture the same detail and that is just plain wrong. How can you throw 3million pixels at an object, and then throw 8million pixels at the same object, same area size, and not pick up finer detail?

This is a mobilephone site i was reffering to camera phones, the higher the megapixel count on a cheap crappy cmos sensor the more noise reduction is needed so in the end your 8mp photo ends up with no more or less detail than a 3mp photo from a 3mp camphone.

Yes that makes sense, but that's not what you said. You just said resolution makes no difference to detail.

It doesn't in camera phones.

Yes,
I know, but you never mentioned camera phones, you just said resolution made no difference, and have been arguing that for the past couple of pages.
