It's a shame about that case and sorry if I built anyone's hopes up. It is however getting very frustrating on how well Sony are keeping the Z4 under wraps, no blurry photos, benchmarks or camera samples have cropped up yet, although we have seen an alleged front panel and the possible product placement in the next Bond movie but it does mean we are possibly in for a treat come MWC in March. Fingers crossed we can get a sneak peek soon just to whet our appetite.

Wouldn't be Sonys first IP certified phone with removable back. If I'm not mistaken it was the V with removable battery and IP57 rating. Sim and microSD card slot were located under the battery.

One thing i learned from following phone announcements for years now is: reality>information on the web. no leak in the world will convince me that the next compact or main from sony will not have front stereo speakers unless it's backed up by a very good source and explanation. the reason = it's going backward (!). that is stronger basis then a render which does not say ANYTHING. it's just a blank photoshop render. nothing less, nothing more. it's much stronger to trust your judgement then believe some info that doesn't say or confirm anything.

Yeah. though, when we think about time frame - z3 was first leaked (photos) about a month and a week before ifa so we should expect some first tester leak before the end of this month as mwc is from the 2th of may.

About this photos I had some trouble getting what the BIG NUMBERS (5, 7, 9) in the front panel was, but now I got it
It's a stylized watch. big number is hour, and to the right there are 15, 30, 45, 60 which represents minutes, the big number slowly fill up and the level of the "filler" tells the minutes...
was I the only one who didn't understand this at first glance? 7Could it be a new Stylish Cover? it would look rad!!!

Also I highly doubt that they would ditch front stereo speakers! they are trying to associatìe the Z series with the walkman brand and with quality sound, it would be a really bad move IMHO.

I personally would like a removable cover, as long as they keep the IP certification (could it still retain a IP68 rating?)

The V has IP57 rating and the ZR IP58. If I had to guess I would say yes to a IP68 rating.


@amirprog It wouldn't be the first time that an OEM goes "backwards" like Sammy did it with the Note 4 (USB 3.0 vs 2.0). By moving the speakers to the back you would have more space to fit in a bigger display, say 4,7" (mentioned in the latest Z4C rumors) without getting an overall bigger device. Further on those case "leak" came from a trusted user with high credibility and a solid explanation why he thinks it's the real deal. So we got the rumor of 4,7" Z4C with overall same dimension as Z3C and a case designed for the Z4C showing cut-outs for led flash and something else. In this constellation the only plausible explanation would be that the Z4C is losing its front-speakers. Even If I don't think it will be the case (even absurd), I still can't dismiss "evidences".

It's not the same situation. going back to one speaker after you HAD 2 stereo speakers is totally different. its like going from 1080p to 720p, seriously? its that simple. better think anything but sony ditching 2 front speakers.
those case leaks came from the hacked sony mail and what xj posted could mean any phone. he did not have any solid info. nothing was confirmed. when someone says his own opinion its his own. nothing confirmed so it doesn't matter how trusted someone is. in this case, common sense wins by far afaic, and it did, as we see, it's a p7 case.

@amirprog sorry, but you still didn't get my point dude. It's all about "IF". IF that case would have been for the Z4C then the cut-out at the back would have been reserved for the speaker. Again, in this "if-scenario",taking the case for the real deal, a back positioned speaker would be the only "logical" answer, despite all your doubts you have, cause in that "if-world" your believing doesn't count.

Friend, the cut out at the back would never ever been reserved for one back speaker CONSIDERING z3c stereo speakers. we are talking about a successor fellow. why would anyone care about IF prediction that does not hold any ground in reality? considering that fact, chances sony will ditch front stereo and go backward to one back speaker does not really exist. i wrote an example, going from 1080p to 720p = would never happen. i'm sure you agree with that. we predict stuff based on existing device. i hope we can move on now.

Well, it has already stereo speakers, the next step is a subwoofer 😅

Honestly I don't know, it might be Xenon if they went through a super capacitor route but even with that its hard. So I dont think so.
