Just to let every one know the great news.
I went on the internet today and was able to update My Orange Branded K700i with out any problems using SE Update service.
I have been trying to update every day for the past few weeks and to my supprise when it said it was downloading today i was in shock.
Any way my original firmware was R2AC, my new firmware is R2AE033 and yes the Firmware for the camera is even 3.10
Nothing was lost on the phone, nothing was changed and yes the orange shortcuts are still on the main screen before any one asks.
I can comfirm that the phone has all the features of the Generic R2AE033 K700i phones with the phone book working correctly, menus alot faster, You can now play m4a and the delay in answering or dialing calls has gone.
Little confusion tho, My phone wasnt fully charged and the battery indicator was in the Orange. However now with the new software the battery indicator is 3/4 full and back in the green. So i dont know if it does improve battery life or not.
I have also checked the fault log and nothing was reported. So that great news for me and hopefuly for SE.
Any questions just ask, I will try and help the best i can.

That is good news. It will be interesting to see whether other companies (O2, Vodaphone, TMobile etc) can now also perform online updates. I'll update the front page when more information comes to light.

Be careful, one case does not mean success. I believe there is still a problem with the update service as the scheduled maintenance on it has not yet taken place. Some people have reported that the phone has worked fine after the update, but every now and again it manages to corrupt the phone. T-Mobile and O2 are still against using the update service!
It would be nice if we had other Orange users willing to see if the SEUS will update their phones...?

Its just before noon here in the UK, I've just now tried updating a Orange-branded K700i using a DSS-25, got the "Your device is not permitted to use this service" message. This guy must have been very lucky indeed.
Damn, i left my DSS25 at someones house and just rushed out to get it, what a disappointment
Also, a few days ago I had it flashed at the Fleet Comms service centre near London, and it was only flashed to R2L001, the camera SW stayed at 3.9. The stupid thing is, i can't remember what the firmware version I had before was. I have a feeling that theyve actually downgraded it. shouldn't they check for that kind of thing? (i know, its probly my fault)

Why can I not update my phone to a newer than R2L001 ???
It will not update to R2AA003 or newer.
It is an unbranded phone.
And what is EMMA II ?????????

I have been able to update 3 phones on Orange from R2AC to R2AE with out any problems and also 1 from R21 to R2AE.
Where ever you got your last update from, they seem to have messed around with the version or even put you the wrong one on the phone, (Dont quote me on that)
I would take the phone back to the shop and reask to put the correct version on. R2AC has been out on Orange for a month or so already.
