So sony also ends beta for xperia home what exactly is sony's aim for mobiles @spek

Canceling Track ID wasn't a big issue - there's Shazam - it was a logical step. Recently they've canceled their weather app and that too isn't that bad since it was basically a sony interface for info coming from AccuWeather. It appears that Sony would also like to ditch the Xperia calendar which I personally prefer to Google's. That too won't be the end of the world.

But canceling their interface? What will replace it, stock Android? A bloated Samsung style UI? This is quite worrying to be honest.

Probably stock. Why would they "cancel their interface" so as to presumably reduce costs, by making a new, bulkier interface instead. Makes no sense.

It could be that Sony believes that it may help sales. However, as far as I recall, they claim they are not planning to sell as much as the big ones and no where near those figures. So yeah, I guess you're correct and it'll be stock.

Cost-cutting and trimming down unnecessary divisions that deemed not worth the money invested in...Also some related to other Sony companies strategy. For example TrackID closed down due to Sony sold Gracenote.....

I hope no stock android.
Because important stuff would be gone.
Like Stamina, RGB control, cam app, X Reality..

I do like Album, Music and Video.

The only thing they can kill is Whats New..
Nothing more.

sony's camera app isn't as good as other's.. google's camera app is much better. sony's camera app is still clunky in comparison to others. this has always been the case, even in their actual cameras.. their menus have always been a complaint.

stamina hasn't been the same for awhile. the current stamina is pretty much the android battery extender re-branded. i much preferred the old stamina mode better. the new one with performance throttling is annoying.

i don't use music or video. album is great. x reality is great. don't think these would go away since the display is an important part of a sony mobile device.

Only one of the 3 Stamina levels underclocks the phone and decreases brightness.
The other two just disable x-reality/ super vivid ..

Cam app is very simple.
Just up/down and diagonal.
Those with name of functions are ugly. Cheap copy of iOS.

Justbecause sony ends xperia home doesn't necessarily mean that their other apps would be defunct too

@Moe: Other stamina levels also underclocks the performance.

@M-Ali: Just last week, they ended Weather app's support and now they also ended their own launcher which is the best one for me now. They're restructuring heavily.

------------

I'm afraid that they're selling their Xperia branding to one of those Chinese brands or one of Japan's companies. The former solution could decrease Xperia's quality significantly and the latter solution means that we can't import the phone to other countries as it is difficult.

-------------

XZ2P is officially heading to China for 6000 Yuan (about $960) and can be pre-ordered at July 2nd.
