I think your buddy needs a fw upgrade. That's the only thing I can think of right now. If he doesn't want to deal with Vodacare he could try a master reset which is not guarenteed to fix the problem. The T610 is not my favourite SE for ahost of reasons.

Had a chance to play with a mate's Motorola MPX200 'smart'phone. He got it new off ebay;still has the protective film on the screen.
Although this has long been superceded by the MPX220 and MPX300,it was the first time that I've had a fiddle with a Windows (2002) phone.A lot has been said about this phone's less than perfect record.
Can't say that all the menus are the most intuitive, but obviously I am new to these.
The build quality seems pretty damn good, with a pseudo-'flip-flop' paint effect, with all glittery bits within the black.
Well-finished indeed.
The 'home' screen is certainly customisable,as regards layout and content.
Quite a few Orange sub-menus pre-loaded,such as Orange back-up,Orange Update,Orange Media etc.
Not a shabby handset as such, but it is quite a chubby handset;would give the SE Z1010 a run for its money as regards girth...
While still on Moto phones, the L6 and L7 SLVR are now available here.
Best prices so far is £90 for the L6 with free BT headset on O2 PAYG, and £150 for the SLVR,also on PAYG.

Right wanqsta, there were a lot of complaints about the MPx200- especially it's software. This could be attributed to the fact that this phone was a trail blazer when it came to Windows-based smartphones.
I'm thoroughly enjoying my P910...after three days I've gotten used to the qwerty keyboard, still don't have the handwriting-recognition figured out but I wouldn't want to use the stylus all that much.
Now my question is why can't SE put the scroller-wheel in there other phones? I mean it would make life so bloody easy.
BTW, do S60 games work on the P910? I've downloaded the latest installment of the Prince of Persia franchise and it doesn't want to open.
Yesterday I was ready to part with R550 after seeing a brand new T600 in one of cellphone shops down here...it's so tiny it would've been the perfect foil for my P910i.

@ brix,
I have also had no luck with using S60 games.I tried to install a few arcade classics last year, like Raiden etc.which was on a Nokia 6600 'games and ringtones' cd, but to no avail.
So after a few searches earlier this year, you'll find some stuff here..oh wait...ermmm...check your PM.

Sorry to be messenger of bad-tidings to an avid 'Gooner' tonight, but they have just lost 1-0 to Newcastle.
Hope your sense of humour extends this far:

Thankfully I've got an active sense of humour. They're probably already in holiday spirit...I should add that I still feel better than a Manure supporter.

Here's another classic example how the world of cellphones must be high up the 'product value depreciation list':
Three months ago,a ROKR cost around £200 (about R2230) when it first became available here.(as stated, with links, on this forum back then.)
Now they can be had from O2's online shop for £79.99.(approx R900)

Just goes to show how costly the first-on-the-block syndrome can be. The P910i has held its value comparatively well over here.
