Wasn't there a eumour that the guys from Motorola were back in the lab, working on a new and improved ROKR which should come out next year.
Have to agree with da krypsta that the P910 has maintained it's price- it's too expensive. Things should change when we get the P990 next year.

@ Kryptik,
our primary school falls into one of the poorest boroughs in London.
Some of the huge business consortiums have started the PFI (Private Funding Initiative) Project. 30 primary schools in the borough had an opportunity to apply for this, whereby each pupil in the class would have access to a laptop and lessons would be predominantly delivered by the teacher using an interactive whiteboard and tablet PC issued to the teacher.
The 2 most senior Year Groups have now got theirs, and took them home for the first time.
The programmes are fantastic. An example, one of the English programmes allows the kids to bring their narrative text writing to virtual reality life,as they can create virtual characters with animations, get the characters to 'speak' the various dialogues in designated voices, change the sceneries,etc.etc.We have to set homework on the server, using loads of learning programmes, then the pupils synchronise their assigned laptops with the server to transfer all the work.
The laptops are then logged off, shut down and re-started to ensure that all the synchronised work is enabled/working,by going in to the main 'Kaleidos' programme.
Laptops are then checked-in on Mondays. Parents have to sign for a laptop every time it leaves school. The laptops have no cd drive or floppy drive, and are programmed to only couple with the the school's server/net.Each laptop is given a 'disabling' date,so that if the laptop is stolen,it will be 'blocked' by the date shown on start-up.
On the parent consent forms,it is made clear as regards the do's and don'ts,for both insurance purposes and other legalities.
The whole PFI Project is to obviously raise standards in primary school education.
The possibilities are seemingly endless.Using the net and pre-installed programmes under different subjects and areas of work, the kids are really treated to learning in such a dynamic way.
A stylus is used to 'write' on the interactive whiteboard,pre-installed grids for maths, writing frames, etc. are all there.
The kids recently made Powerpoint presentations for RE.created newspaper reports (tabloids and hard news!) on MS Publisher etc.
Note the projector.
The school is a (modernised) old Victorian school. The third/top floor was bombed during WW2,so there are just 2 classrooms up there, mine being one of them. The rest of the space is now a roof garden.
My lovely tablet PC in its cradle.Note the amplifier, used to good effect even after school, when I'm busy with admin and my yahoo music station on the net is blasting away...

That's a brilliant initiative, even in SA more kids are being exposed to computers in the classroom. We're not at the point of giving each kid a laptop but that might soon change with the introduction of the sub-$100 laptop which is being championed by MIT.

Yeah,I mean last year we only used the dedicated ICT suite, just like when I taught in SA,as well as the standard PC or 2 in each class, but now that we have these laptops and interactive whiteboard etc in the classrooms,we have no need to go there, apart from the other Year Groups who obviously don't have access to laptops.
Brix,herewith the new ROKR E2 thread,for what it's worth:

Hey welcome Jagger...My Friends is the built-in chat application that comes built into most

phones from the T630. Go to
www.yamigo.com to set it up. If you've got MSN contacts you'll be able to chat to them, it also supports a host of other messaging services.

Eish,maar dis stil hier vandag...
Just read that Panasonic are to only continue developing Linux OS and 3G handsets from early next year,no longer GSM.
Oh well,at least their last range of GSM phones like the VS6 etc have not let them leave the GSM arena disgraced in any way.
Good luck with specialising in those cell markets,Panasonic.

It's been quiet down here becuaseI've been busy trawling the net for apps and games.
Chatted to mario earlier this evening and he's telling me about his 1,1Mb ADSL connection...it costs a fortune tho, it should be mentioned that he's got stock in Hellkom.
About Panasonic ceasing development of GSM handsets, it was only a matter of time...they're a small phone maker so it makes sense to invest in areas where they see future revenues...I don't know how many people are keen a Linux-based phone.

No news is good news, as they say. Been out of it all day, had a bit of minor surgery this morning so i've been on a drug-induced high ever since.
When i finally turned my phone on i had a whole slew of emails waiting, 22 new notifications, not the least of which the announcement that the insurance companies are being made to fork over a coupla billion to their clients in reparations for penalties incorrectly imposed regarding RA and endowment accounts, etc. I know the JSE's been watching this with some interest...
@Brix, apart from News24, are there any other news services which forward breaking news items directly to email? News24 is great, but they only forward the headlines of breaking stories, one still has to follow the link to their site. That usually aint a prob, but when one is gerook and the schizo side is exhibiting itself to all and sundry it'd be nice to get the full story immediately, while the dominant persona is still in control
Lor' he'p us, i's rambling on and on... Powerful stuff, these Schedule 6 drugs.
And for my finale...
Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
i'm schizophrenic
And so am i.
