and X1c is supposed to be the Chinese edition (which I think SE had dropped it), not Europe?

Well, that definitely looks interesting. A lot of lofty goals they're claiming. I'll keep a look out for this. It'll probably end up being a feature phone rather than a smart phone since they're building an OS from scratch (no third-party software market). It's due in first half of 2009--how elaborate can the OS be?
On the monolith page, it shows Ericsson as one of the technology partners.
