as wardh said above, in your firewall program control settings, you need to block M3's access to the internet. i was having the same problem with M3 crashing instantly after launching it. once i deprived it of net access, normal service was resumed.
i suppose it was phoning home but didn't get the reply it wanted...

Ive blocked the website as instructed but i still get the same
error message shortly after opening the application.
Any suggestions guys?

I did the router block thing & that did not work - i went into windows (in my case Vista) and directly blocked M3.exe from getting access outbound to the internet.
Start menu -> accesories-> Run->secpol.msc->Security Settings->Windows Firewall...->Outbound Rules->Right Click->New Rule->Program->Next-> "Program path for M3.exe"

it's the application's internet access you need to block, not a website.
look for the program/application control settings in your firewall software then add M3 on the list of apps do deny net access to.

Another workaround i was given was to add the url to you hosts file with the local loopback as the ip address. M3 worked fine for me after that.
