'Records video at QCIF '
Don't see
8600, 6300 doing any better, QVGA!
What about
7390, which you say(even though I doubt you own EITHER phone to test, lol) 'kills' T650i.....hmmm, in
Mobile Choice magazine, issue 134(that's last month's, if you don't know), when they tried to shoot a VGA(15fps) video......the phone crashed repeatedly, so they had to use the lower setting to get a recording at all......
.....fact is I've had AT LEAST
5 8600 owners jealous of T650i since I've owned it, says something, doesn't it??
Especially for a prototype!

I 'have' used the 7390, but only for a while. Though I dont know T650 fully, its a love or hate situation with it. Firstly I know many will be put of by the keypad, including me. Its a fashion phone, meaning girls will like it. Now imagine a girl with long nails trying to press those buttons??
Secondly, the display is 1.9'' only. Thirdly for a fashion phone, i would have not expected an ugly camera lens bulging out from the behind. Its obvious they forced the lens in the phone which was far too thin for it.
Fourthly, the green looks unattractive and many on esato agree. I hope there is a black varient. 8600 looks far more attractive with its black color.
Fifthly, the price will be the deciding factor. 7390 is very reasonably priced. I see no reason for T650 to be more expensive than K810, and if it is, there's very little reason to buy it.
Sixthly, a lot depends on the release date as well. There're some awesome phones coming out in a month or two, I hope T650 comes out within the next month.

I can't see the point of you even coming on Esato QVGA. All you ever seem to do is put

products down and never really have anything productive to say. A blokia forum is your home.
I can see

's argument for using odd colours for this phone, they want to be different especially in this market segment where there is a lot of competition these days. They actually did it with the T610, the blue and red variants did seem a bit peculiar, I personally never liked them.

are also doing this with other phones such as the green/black S500 and yellow S500, but IMO these colours suit the phone more than a green or blue T650.
I think I will wait to see one in the flesh before deciding if I want one. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

'Its a fashion phone, meaning girls will like it'
I know more MEN with 8800/sirocco than I do women, whom I think would argue that point with you.....
...although yes, long nails might make a problem, everyone else is ok though(I've had probably 50+ people, men AND women, boys AND girls, testing my phone; they all seem happy with the keys, even after showing the same doubt you have; my lady loves it more than her 'normal' K610 keypad, and she's got nice(painful) nails).
The display is 1.9" only: yes, it's only a mid-range(6-series) phone, the sizing suits the overall phone size design well, I think(plus anything bigger wouldn't actually fit this chassis with everything else used as it currently is)
You third point? I suppose you'd prefer a smaller(worse) camera module, which would be needed to fit flush with the current design(like Samsung just did going from D900i to U6/700), a 2mp non-af would have fitted easily.....of course, if T650i was as bulky as 7390/8800, the lens wouldn't stick out at all. But

decided to put the best QUALITY unit in T650i they could, which requires a certain size to process a certain amount of light. That's fine by me, I'll get decent pictures.....
Green looks unattractive, yeah I thought so too, but in the flesh, I feel differently....again, everyone who's seen MY phone says first 'it's green'....which turns to 'actually, it's nice'.......either way, it's different....and everyone seems to like the blue version.....
Price will be NO MORE than K800 was at launch(T650i comes with more accessories than anything, except 8800(but including 8600)) , which means £300 - oo, which funnily enough, was exactly what 7390 was at it's launch(7380 was £100 more)......
And yes, if it DOESN'T launch in Aug,

may well suffer; I've already discussed this exact point with others.
Assuming it DOES bcome available, great! It's got 6500 slider, U700, and a couple of other 3G fashion phones to compete with, so consumers will have some of the best choices they have ever had.....
Please also note - this is a
discussion thread, for people with a positive interest in the device, to discuss it.
If you're
just here to try and attack it(as you say it's either love or hate, you must hate it then, going by your above comments), then do everyone else a favour, and please, go find another thread to try and depress...

The pictures look great in the review, but I still want to see the blue verison and like I said before, its usual for one colour to be much more prevalent than the other, but fingers crossed it will be the one I'm after.
@Aware
How easy would you say it was to change the housing?

Lunion, my logic is this:

took
W880(from official announcement), and that was designed/built in Japan.....
......and we had rumours of it here on Esato way before the announcement!
The
only 'new' hardware in T650i is the screen and battery, everything else has been 'tested' already in other, released phones.....
....so I can't see why it would take more than 13 weeks to launch?!
The Keys also have never been used before. Neither the crystal glass display nor the quartz around the lens.
Great review. ALthough the T650i isn't for me, I love where SE is going with tyight chipset integration & assembly - first seen in the W880 now T650i.

I normally change my phone after about 6mnths or so. But what i have seen/read about the T650i i am goin to be keeping it for ages. And that for me is enough to pay £300 (from what i have heard) coz this is the best looking phone i have ever seen.

From Gsmarena:
Final words
Well, that leaves one of the latest Sony Ericsson handsets, the T650, safely at the end of the gauntlet. This mobile will face the public's high expectations and, as far as we can guess, it will have no problems meeting them.
We found the Sony Ericsson T650 to be a top-notch solution, able to meet most of your mobile needs, be it calling, texting, making pictures or listening to music - all that in an eye-catching form that won't go unnoticed wherever you go. Probably the only disappointment you may have with it, is the low quality video capturing capabilities - QCIF video at 15 fps just doesn't cut the mustard these days.
So after all is said and done, you bet the Sony Ericsson T650 is more than enough to keep you busy while you are waiting for the next Sony Ericsson headliner - the five-megapixel Sony Ericsson K850.
