I haven't seen anyone with this problem... maybe it's me being dumb.
I have tried the update procedure and got as far as the 'Power off your device, hold 'c' and plug back into the USB etc.'
However, when I do this, XP says it has detected a new 'flash device' and tries to install drivers but can't find them. I downloaded the driver pack from the SE site but they don't contain the correct file(s) either.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

The drivers you need are the update service USB drivers, available from the sonyericsson website. You might now have the problem that when you repeat the action, windows no longer prompts you for drivers.
If so, there are two ways to proceed.
1) load the device manager, (control panel->system->device manager) and watch for a "USB Flash" item briefly appearing in the "Other devices" category. If that happens, right click and choose "Update drivers", then point the wizard at the files you just downloaded.
2) If that proves impossible, re-boot windows in safe mode (F8 on boot-up), and use system restore to go back to the last restore point. Reboot.

I think in order to confirm if the issue with 02 GPRS is a bad batch or something, it might be worth everyone reporting their build date. I recall seeing some week17 phones with the problem. For the record, mine is a week19 build, and had no GPRS problems following the firmware update. Coincidentally, I had no crashing problems prior to the upgrade either, phone has been turned on for a few weeks now, and my first reset just now is due to the fact I've just taken the battery out to look at the label inside.
It might also be worth any other 02 users that haven't had the problem, confirming their build date also.

Has anyone else struggled to download the update?
Mines taken over half an hour and has frozen my pc. Can't do anything else whilst it's being downloaded.
Is there a quicker way?

Thanks so much for your help and those drivers - got it working in the end.
Had a bit of a scare for a moment as the phone wouldn't switch on and I couldn't get the back off.
But eventually, off it came. I took the battery out for a few seconds, replaced it and the phone started up.
Seems fine so far.

Well I posted earlier I reported this to o2 and SE. o2 got back to me and told me that they recieved an internal e-mail today about the software and problems relating to GPRS and other matters, and were therefore re-calling K750i's.
They seemed quick to offer a replacement (which will be my 3rd k750i) which I take one of two ways, 1. its easier to swap the phone than to figure out why it's bust or 2. there is a real problem with the k750i. My phone is a week 19 model, had a few lock ups before update, but post update GPRS has packed up - though everything else seems smoother.
They are shipping me a replacement in 3-5 working days which sounds ominously like it'll be a post 20th of June phone. I really don't want another replacement (hastle of setting it up, charging, new t9 dictionaries etc (by the way is there anyway to back that up)) and I hope in this 3-5 working days a fix can be found! (or that wildwayz post is true and firmware will work after the 20th)
I phoned Sony Ericsson direct who were useless, well not useless but didn't offer any reference to a problem, talked me through and sent me GPRS settings (again) and basically did all the basic stuff. but then after we did all that he said call o2 and get it swapped..
There you go update as promised, even though nothing what so ever has been achieved!
Cheers
