I might not use WP anymore for various reasons but you can hardly call it ugly. Android is very far from being a beautiful OS to look at with boring static grid of icons.

Actually I have no clue what you're talking about. Another thoughtless comment?
WP OS has an ugly dead boring, flat homescreen, as well as apps tray. Just sqares, no background, just black/white. People who use it call it basic or primitive. On Android you can actually configure it, especially the homescreen and widgets, and make it look actually personal and aesthetic. Now also settings menu looks more vivid and pleasant than JUST letters on WP.

WP with the live-tiles make a nice and user friendly home screen. I wouldn't call that boring, everything is moving and changing.
As always is up to what you want and need that feeds the decision.
