As Wiki says;

"Due to the size limitations of modern compact digital cameras, the distance between the lens and the built-in flash has decreased, thereby decreasing the angle of light reflection to the lens and increasing the likelihood of light reflection off normally sub-visible particles. Hence, the orb artifact is commonplace with small digital or film camera photographs.

The orb artifact can result from reflection of light off solid particles (e.g., dust, pollen), liquid particles (water droplets - especially rain) or other foreign material within the camera lens"

The flash is VERY close to the lens, so make sure you have no dust on the glass, or worse case, under the glass!

How frustrating! (Good for you though...) Looks like I have to return mine then. Return for what? Repair? DOA here is five days. Refurbished? No, no, no.

No slider scratching problem with mine either. Even tried to make it scratch and it won't. Got mine last week.

That's good to know.

Anyone else also finding that you get red-eye all the time (with reduction turned off)?

It's quite likely as the lens is so close to the flash module, but i have forgotten many a time to switch the flash mode to red-eye reduction.

It'd be easier if when the camera detected a face, to switch the flash mode to red-eye reduction automatically, or am i asking too much

Also, no slider problems here either.

Almost all compact digital cameras produce red eye without a red eye reduction mode of some kind.

^that is a good idea! but then again, the phone doesn't get a lock on to someones face 100% of the time. I just bung all the ones that have red eye in picasa and do a batch red eye removal as 90% of the time it removes red-eye perfectly. Red-eye is something you just gotta deal with i geuss, and hey, all the other 8mpx competitors don't get red eye cause they use an LED flash!

I think I've found a small bug, try using the nostalgic slideshow, it starts up then quits to the picture browser, anyone get this?

True, its not too hard to get rid of it, but it'd be a nice feature, further utilizing the face detection (I've only got the idea as my compact camera does it). But i'd rather have an xeon flash over the LED ones any-day, just my preference.

@harry20larry: it seems to work for me, i just get so emotional with the sad music playing

Hey guys,

I've only just found this thread and don't really have time to read all 314 pages!

can someone one tell me how it compares with the K850? I have been one of the lucky one as far as that phone goes, (i.e. no BROD yet - so far). 3 weeks to go til i can upgrade and i wanna get rid! I was thinking of this or the X1, but having played with an X1 it seems really slow and I don't need a smart phone as I'm sat by a PC all day anyway.

I would highly recomend it. it is quick and powerful, all the highest specs. If you don't need win mob, don't get it, the xperia is still buggy and slow and i can't see any advantages over the c905. I had a k850i before and this phone is so much quicker than it, the camera is leaps and bounds above it, and the phone OS is alot sleaker.
