Sample photos from the new XZ are a big improvement in the handling of noise versus older sensors. In fact, I am seeing almost no artifacts around the edges. The photos are also sharp around the focus of the object being framed.
The panorama image is also improved by leaps and bounds, yes there will be some distortion but that can be expected with such a wide image.
So whatever sony did, they did well, be it the improved sensor, the larger pixel size, improved algorithm, or a combination of any, it is nice to see Sony finally releasing a decent camera.

I have no problem with sides I hope they reduce the top and bottom bezels, surely top is because of the camera module and bottom is to keep the overall look balanced but still too thick.

I guess there won't be any new Premium this year.
This pretty much is in line with my expectations but I was hoping for a surprise.
This phone hasn't met the future proofing standards I have set so I guess I will wait for XZ Premium 2.
I'm curious what your standards are. If the XZP were announced with your standards, what would be its specs?

Maybe he wanted Mobile Ryzen SoC, 8GB HBM2, 256GB NVMe SSD, Thunderbolt 3 enabled Type-C port, 3.5mm/optical hybrid port, 5.5" 4K with FreenSync 2, built in PHA-2A headphone amp

Only 2 things would be different;
6GB RAM - feature that is not uncommon on a Chinese flagship. 4GB is last year's flagship standard.
4K@60 fps video recording - since Exynos 9 manages even 120 fps, Sony should have provided us with at least half of that. I know it is up to Qualcomm but than the Premium could have been postponed until Qualcomm updates its SoC (which happens usually around Q4).

I'm sure there is a reason even S8 and G6 have 4 GB. updated 835 most likely have only overclocked cores no new dps

NAND Flash and RAM chip today are in very tight supply globally, price hike like crazy. The key reason to equipped only 4GB RAM is related to bill of materials, even Samsung the key spearhead of RAM industry supplier is also crucially forced to stick with 4GB for global model.
It is very ultimate chance for Sony to avoid RAM-less than competitors that very often get criticism from media and horde of geeks
I would love to see how companies that equipped 6GB RAM from last year will play out in 2017?
