What the hell has happened to the online update service then?? It doesn't work with my orange uk branded k700? I've used it to update the firmware before but now it says the service is not supported by my service provider?? Will it ever work again??

Same here with T-mobile NL. Looks like they blocked all branded phones

My K700i works with the update service and I debranded it using multiserver. I have put the firmware I used on my site and also the version of multiserver I used, complete with the original guide from iamcrunchie.

Try debranding using this, then go to the update service.

Well I just had a reply from SE to this:
**********************
I have tried updating my Orange branded K700i on the
update service but I get a message saying that there is no update for my operator.
Apparently before the update service went down about a week ago there were updates available for Orange K700 users but now many people seem to be getting a similar error to me even if there mobile is unbranded! Please see the later stages of the following thread from
www.esato.com (link to this thread).

Sony Ericsson Reply:
With regards to your enquiry, some network operators have banned the use of the update service. The update can instead be done via one of our service locations. Pleae contact our postal service centre ACR Logistics on 01295 662101. The update can be carried out on generic models as we have tested this.

Not that helpful really!

@kenski,
hi. i've encountered this problem before. i even started a thread regarding the problems encountered after going thru the online update. i encountered this when the online update was still new. my K700i already had R2L (flashed by a service center) and i tried the online update just to find out if it works. unfortunately it corrupted my phone. although the update didn't prompt me for any error during and after the upgrade, it was until i made a master reset that i realized something wrong happened during the online update. the default theme "waip" does not load correctly plus i cannot receive any files via IR or BT. the phone says "memory full..." i was able to record a movie clip but then i couldn't erase it afterwards. even a master reset can't remove the recorded movie clip. i tried the online update 3 times and still my phone wasn't fixed. i even went to a service center for a reflash but it also didn't work. anyway i read somewhere that removing your SIM card might help so out of desperation i tried it out. at the very end of the update process i encountered a message saying "error in communicating with device..." i then did the instructions that followed after the error message was displayed (removing the battery, reinserting it again and turning on the phone). somehow my phone started up and everything was working normally. up to this moment i haven't encountered any problems. after this experience i told myself that i wouldn't be using the online update again. it's much safer to let the service center do the upgrade for you. hope this helps.

hi! what was exactly that, whereby your phone started to work normally again? you removed the battery, put back and it repaired your corrupted software? make it clear,pls!
