i have got my phone software rebranded to Orange but it has been upgraded to software version 1.6 instead of staying with 1.4. I called SE yesterday and will send the phone for repair later today. Hopefully everything will be sorted out soon.

I lost the GPRS setting during the upgrading process and X10 can get the setting automatically not like my HD2 or N97. IS there any good programme around to get the setting automatically? Cheers!

software issues. tried everything. reset. reflash, which i cant even do cos the phone doesnt turn on...

quick run down i posted on a local forum...

"welll my x10 has shat itself!

i mean, it works, sorta... i can acess the main menu, but when i try to run apps, load movies, call/msg etc etc etc, the phone just freezes and i have to force close everything.... if that doesnt work, if i can get in to my task killer, i kill everything, but the 'freezing' just continues when i try to do anything.

sometimes it doesnt register any actions at all so i have to remove the battery. happened this morning... when i received a call. was sleeping, saw the phone ringing but left it... when i woke up, it still had the screen showing that i had an incoming call, was just frozen.

thought it was skyfire of websharing lite which caused it last night maybe, deleted them, didnt help. thought maybe the mem card was screwed, so took it out, again, didnt help....

when i powered my phone on every time, a little 'warning' appeared saying something like sd card not inserted, apps will not run smoothly, or something like that. though Astro showed a mem card was inserted and working. (yes some apps worked, but froze after 2 mins)"


anyway, tried a reset, still did same thing... tried reflashing... but when pc companion asks you to 'mount/unmount' your phone once usb is connected, my phone doesnt turn on, so obviously i cant do the reflash as i just have a blank screen. my pc makes the noise to say something has been connected, but other than that, nothing

try it over SE - Update Service!
it tells you to shut phone down, remove battery for five secs & then after battery insertion connect to pc (phone switched off) while holding back button. enters flash mode
should fix your problem.
search for Sony Ericsson update service on their site

ouch >500 that blows!! I hope you can find a way to fix it!

@anders - twicca works for 1.6+ as for the new twitter app, it probably uses 2.1 features but it is kind of sad that they didn't release a version for older versions of android. i guess they don't care about all their users.

will give this a go... ive only done the update via PC Companion... il have to download SEUS now... deleted it cos i have pc companion....
