to enable fast charging one of the inner pins of the usb cable needs to be connected to one of the two power + or - otherwise it will charge at the slower rate of 500ma as far as I know

correction it's the two data pins in the mains charger are shorted - and remember charging current is limited by the phone - not sure how the magnetic charging connection works and how they are connected - I do know that the dock does not work with a PC usb so there is something quirky about the wiring relationship with the charger - I'd guess it uses the 2x shorted data pins as 5v or ground.....not sure

perhaps you'd care to explain how you measured the current ? BTW I know how to measure I'd just like to know how you did it

@bonovox - google music doesn't sync both ways. it only auto uploads from specified directories of your computer. from a mobile device, it only syncs the library available to you.

@dibdin - you need to access google music from a computer/laptop. you can download any of your songs in your library from there, which you can then transfer to your phone. there are "download" settings in the mobile app, but I think this is for caching purposes only when streaming as I could never seem to find an actual download button to grab a track/album. You should still be able to view your library form the google music app, but if you wanted to play your music via walkman app or something, you'd need to download and transfer over.

They picked the Z1 as one of the best cameras this year.. I will have to agree. Also the trend towards bigger sensors, set by Nokia in 2010, seems to be picking up thanks to Sony's effort.

The 1020 takes away the prize.. which is a pretty obvious choice.

I would put the 1520 up there as well

Hi all. I wasnt sure if my phone sufferred from yellow hue. Today i compared my z1 to another z1 in a mall and found that mine actually had yellow hue. I had bought it on Dec 9. Will sony. Give a replacement? Will the upcoming white balance app solve the problem? I am very disappointed. Have spent 40k for this phone and havent got what i deserved. Has any one from Mumbai got a replacement?

Hi, I also experienced that moment when I checked side by side my Z1 with the demo unit in Sony store here in the Philippines. Checking the demo unit is whitish than mine, but when I checked the build numbers, the demo unit is still in .531 and mine was already in .257

I also read some article at XDA stating that the .257 update made the screen warmer than the previous build version, and grayish looking for black.

According to the forum at Talk.SonyMobile, someone from Sony stated that the white balance app will be introduced some time in the future, he's not only sure when. But I'm looking forward on the upcoming A.1.114 update to include that, as well as the JPEG compression options.

As you can see on my wall charger, the output states 1500 mA. Since Z1 has 3000 mAh, it will only take 2 hours and more to fully charge the unit. The USB cable included with the wall charger not limits the amount of current passing (which is contradicting on the link you include, which is only 500 mA). Yes, the standard for USB charging is 500 mA but it also depends on the wall charger's output current, as well as the how much current the cable can handle.

For the magnetic cable charging, it should carry the 1500 mA current coming from the charger to be rapidly charged. I just don't know how non-Sony cables and chargers work on with the phones.
