According to the report, I think that HTC will make switch to contract assemble line instead make their own.

If Sony wants to merge itself to someone, that someone should be a strong company. Merging themselves with HTC will be a bad idea. One of the worst things that could happen is that both of them will be disappeared.

Well the bezels are quite big, back looks fine but the front does not - at least when compared to the likes of the Galaxy S9, iPhone X, Vivo NEX, Oppo Find X etc... Doubt many consumers would pick this out in a store over any of those phones (at least based on the design).
I can see them keeping headphone jack for non-flagships, after all, flagship buyers are more easily "persuaded" into buying expensive wireless earbuds :/
Also not sure it is worth buying HTCs mobile division as Google already got rights to all of their patents in previous deal (HTC still has the patents but Google can use them). I would assume this would still stand in the event of any sale. Also doesn't really bring anything to Sony... except maybe better camera software (HDR, autofocus), though XZ2 is a leap forward for Sony so not sure how much worth it would be. If it acquired the Vive business too it might be useful for Sony strategically (PS VR, Sony Movies/Entertainment), but I doubt that part would be up for sale.
