Yup. This is true. I think i mentioned it b4, there are two kinds of fw upgrade, one where you loose data, othere where you wont. If you choose to loose data, the whole phone is formatted, the fw section too, then put in a new fw and installed. In short, it is like formatting the whole hard disc and installing windows clean.

hmmm... ok then what do i tell these guys here ? how do i get into their skulls that i want a full format.... seeing that i have to work at making them understand what firmware is first
and does it cost the same as a firmware upgrade or is it more ?

It costs the same. You can try explaining the problem to them and the way it can be rectified. Tell them you need a full reflash and the software files in the phone removed and then loaded. If that doesnt work, ask them to put a finger in their a**es and threaten them that they will be reported. That should hopefully get them working.
