Indeed, he could have expressed it in a better way.

I believe the 290 update was 7-8 days between being certified and then out to users for updating, wonder if this trend will follow for the new 114 update which was certified on the 23rd.

Would be nice if it came on the 1st of January but perhaps it will arrive at the same time as CES and the Z1 mini and it's new firmware?

I never understand why Sony always seem to release updates for unbranded phones towards the end of the new firmware release runs. Surely they dont have to get approval from the networks so it should be first.

If someone exalt Sony almost immediately those who are against, no matter why, will appear to disagree or complain...
The funny thing is the same kind of behavior being criticized on other brands related topics.
Really coherent.

I'm just guessing but isn't it something to do with the majority of phones being carrier/branded phones and the minority being unlocked? So they may want the majority to get the update quickly, so they give the carriers the update, fix bugs etc...and then begin the roll-out, also to avoid servers being clogged up. Just guessing though.

The studio shots gsmarena did had the 1520 ahead .. then again GSMarena might have shot the z1 with older software.

I would wait until dpreview puts them head to head in their studio before making a final judgment..

Something like this would be perfect.

Otherwise its just too close to call. The 1520 came as a surprise in terms of camera.. I didn't expect it to perform as well as it did but then again I had no idea that they were planning on using a slightly bigger sensor.

GSMARENA on Z1 vs Note 3:

The Sony Xperia Z1 clearly has the most detail in its images. If we get down to pixel-peeping it's evident that small elements are best resolved on the Xperia stills. The Sony flagship uses its superior sensor to produce excellent 8 MP stills, that have more detail, nicer colors and less noise than those of its competitors.

GSMARENA on Lumia 1520 vs Note 3

The Lumia 1520 has a more laid-back processing and a more natural look to its images. In good light however, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 produces equally good photos - those are even punchier despite having slightly more noise. At times we noticed its camera resolve slightly more detail, but that's due to its narrower field of view, which makes objects slightly larger than on the Lumia 1520. When you compensate the difference by physically moving the Lumia closer to the scene, the resulting photos have just about the same resolved detail. That speaks well of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 13MP camera, which has a resolution handicap to begin with. The Lumia 1520 however held its own quite well.

Doesn't seem like a "too close to call case" from what I'm reading (for daylight).

Woo hoo. 4.3 is finally here for my Z1 not sure if it is the newer firmware as SUS just said it was 4.3 will update with the firmware build ASAP.

UPDATE: it is the first release of the 4.3 update and my battery has lost around 60% charge of its battery after the update.
