I see there are a lot of fanatics for SE phones on this forum.

And just what did you expect on a P990 thread? If you had read the posts you would have seen that we bash SE most of the time for their incompetent programming on an otherwise excellent hw design.
As far as the speed goes, I have no complaints with the current version. I use TP to disable transitions, so SE could take a hint there.
Smart phones are bound to be slower than limited function dedicated phones, it's a trade off for functionality, customization and portability.
Having used comparable models from other brands, I have to say that the Pxx series phones are the best breed as far as the above features are concerned, at least I find that they fit my needs better. In its current condition, the P990 unfortunately lags behind the other Pxx series phones, that is why we are trying to get SE to give us the full potential (translated good fw).
On a final note, I don't see any fanatics here, a lot of people have different experiences with the P990, due to installation procedures, additional sw installed and just plain technical savvy. As a result, some people really get along with their P990s while others are having genuine difficulties.
A friend of mine recently bought a P990, after using it for a week, she told me it was a "difficult" phone designed for "engineers". I think this explains a lot.

After I upgraded to R4B03 restarts while receiving calls became rare and suddenly the last 3 days I get at least 2 restarts a day. If the problem is because of restoring a previous back up shouldn't it appear as soon as I restore? And not 3 weeks later?

The incoming call restart is really strange. In my case I had it the same day after the update and no other restarts since then.

@ makbil

After the update to R9E or the update of the organizer to R4B03?

@exokello and @miguel82:
The last restart was the same day after update to Org.: R4B03 but I've had one restart with the previous fw too.
With the last restart, if I remember correctly, SMP was not running at the time. Since then, even though I have SMP running at all times, I never had a restart, so I doubt it may be SMP that is causing the restarts.

Yes there is. Make a backup copy to your memory stick from within contacts (also applies to calendar) and later just restore from your mem stick rather than using PCSuite backup/restore.

good idea.

BTW I met someone else who had a P990i. He has had no probelsmw ith restarts but acknowledged that this was a common complaint. He said he bought his unit in Finland and not India as the units sold in the EU do not have the same problems.

I would classify this as the locale in use that makes the difference. I don't think there is any difference in the hardware. To support this, some people who have changed their phone CDA to World Generic 1 have confirmed that they have far too fewer problems.
