OK checking out some tutorials on gaining root.I have to re-learn all over again.I could root and change ROMs on my X10 with my eyes closed.
ODIN,Kies,XWKDD_insecure.tar,download mode ect ect
Different software,different terminology.Different everything.
I remember the first time I tinkered with my X10.I feel exactly the same way now.Slightly nervous.I know though once I've done it a couple of times and get used to all the different software and files that are needed I'll once again do it with my eyes closed.
Not in a rush at this stage because Im pretty happy with the phone as is but its always nice to have the option when needed.

rooting isn't hard...and now, you can use mobile odin without having to go near a pc...flash away. i flashed 2.3.6. yesterday, just for fun then flashed back using mobile odin. look to xda forums and educate yourself. there's alot of shit, but it's also a bible for the gs2 and general android learning. i'm there everyday for about two hours, learning, reading, more learning. lol. i'll be happy to help as much as i can.

The whole point in me getting this Galaxy S2 was so I wouldnt have to constantly frequent XDA.
If you a X10/or an ex X10 user you'll know what I'm talking about.Ive never messed with a phone as much as I have with the X10.Was a great learning experience.
So far the phone out the box for me doesnt require any modding or changing. Its perfect as is.For me at least.
Knowing me though I'll be singing a different tune in 3 months time and trying to squeeze every ounce out of it.
Will let you know when I need some help with anything (root,ROM changing ect) Thanks

Bono

Its not that scary.Do it once and you away. The learning curve for me is the brand change from SE to Samsung.Things just work different.
