To be honest, why do gsmarena do such kind of review? Do people on social media actually pixel peep? For me, if it does not effect the overall quality of the photo, why bother at all? I smell a dark propaganda..

Because this is the only real way to determine the sensor quality. People on social media might not pixel peep, but is the only purpose of camera in a phone to post pictures on social media? I don't think so.

In today's world 4K monitors are more and more popular, this means that these monitors are practically pixel peeking, as they are showing the picture in 8MP mode.

I've compared ISO of the low light church photo, LG and Samsung did ISO250 at 1/33. Sony used ISO800 at 1/50. It is the time for Sony to finally acknowledge OIS and implement it in their phones...

It is a clear loss for Sony, based on the two low-light comparison of gsmarena.

ISO 800 will never win against 250.

Just a question? Isn't that higher iso is used for moving objects? Is it really an advantage over lower iso at night for moving objects?

My Z2 loves taking iso at 3200 which means XZp at 800 is quite an improvement.

Update: I just checked again the low-light shots.
It seems Sony's approach is not an advantage in moving objects.

In theory, yes. In practice for moving objects at night just use xenon flash, or super expensive DSLR cameras that can handle high ISO very nice .

Some were saying in the comments that Camera B (XZ Premium) shouldn't have even bothered to enter the competition, due to the incredibly poor images it produced the internet is cruel.

With all the hype created around its camera in this thread I was waiting to be amazed by its performance, what a shame, it's just another below average effort.

I guess that's it for the XZ Premium, let's hope Sony actually put some effort in the product they bring at IFA.

Cheers

WOW sold out in 16 minutes! Hope I will be able to get my Chrome ~~

BTW, if the photo taken by Galaxy S8 was using a Sony sensor, imagine what Sony can achieve if they come up with their upgraded camera software!

I believe GSMArena's Samsung units are usually European units and those use Exynos and so should be using the Samsung ISOCELL sensor. I could be wrong, but from personal experience each time in recent times when a Samsung comes with the in-house SoC it usually comes with the in-house Sensor to.
