It's not Sony's decision but Qualcomm's. And as I said, this applies to ALL devices with S4 PRO. Not just Sony devices. HTC, LG, Oppo all will have to switch to S600. Most likely none will advertise this change and clock S600 @1.5ghz so as to not create any buzz

but ramu...if one company announce it with newer version of processor and others dont, that will give an edge to that company..right??? Also there is a performance hike..Not big.but there is...So i think all companies will announce it as a newer version...with slightly different name...

As of now, nobody will market the upgrade. It will be a silent update. No clock speed increase

I already ordered Xperia Z and I am not really caring about S600 .. since the differences is really minimal if they underlocked at 1.5GHz..
However it may delays the up-coming update for the Xperia Z since there are multiple processors ...

True, what's good about Ubuntu touch is because, as stated by Mark Shutterworth it pushes silicon manufacturers to further improve the performance per watt of their chips, on the other hand the performance competition in Android can be considered silly since few apps could even stress the dual core chips to the point that you'll complain that it lags alot and games become painfully unplayable at all. besides Ubuntu Touch supports Full OpenGL, and not just the the relatively scaled down OpenGL ES. which means developers can push desktop grade gaming graphics as long as the hardware could deliver. now who among those who got Android device for the sole reason of getting the best hardware (much like a PC enthusiast) wouldn't want to run apps and games that renders high end shaders on their phone?
also with all due respect to XperiaCute, pardon me for this offtopic (and rather late) reply but for objectivity's sake I was compelled to correct you as you're clearly misinformed with the technology behind QML, it is NOT OpenGL, I don't even have a slight idea about what you're talking there mate, also why would you say OpenGL is crap when native games that run on both iOS and android were written in OpenGL ES? besides, OpenGL extends way beyond gaming and some modern applications are now actually harnessing the GPU resources to accelerate applications and to offload floating-point computing tasks (graphics, animations, video rendering, WebGL and etc) from the CPU which improves battery life. how was that possible? simple, because of OpenGL and its counterparts(Direct3D and etc)

Hardware just doesn't evolve that fast. Android/WP8 and iOS were written with low processing power and batter life in mind, and look at how they struggle with some applications and how fast you need to recharge them. Do you think an OS that can run desktop applications on a smartphone can do so without any problems any time soon? I don't think so.

Sony: Xperia Z display "unbeaten"
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2[....]nbeaten-in-sonymwc-booth-test/
Speaking about Xperia Z's display, that day, I went to compare the screen quality between Xperia Z and my Xperia Ion and unfortunately (or fortunately) me and my friend agree that Ion seems to have a deeper black and Xperia Z's screen have a grey cast to it.

Felimenta, no matter what product you buy - Xperia Z, ZL, Tablet Z you will get S600 provided you buy it after May.
Oh, OK. Thanks. That's great news. Price won't go up, I suppose?
