that _IS_ the Z1 promo

well i hope you got my point. that's not what we've seen in the ads and in many other marketing materials for the new xperias. it's even the first time for me to see that "zi promo"

quit being abrasive and sensitive. you're always apparently getting offended when someone says something not so nice about the xperias.

on a lighter note ......not

so my Z1 has been working perfectly for about a week now without a glitch after I replaced the screen

got a text message and picked it up and the touch is dead - screen is fine but the touch is completely unresponsive, reluctantly I dismantled it to check nothing has come undone and it was fine - checked all the connections all ok, so I dismantled it again and put my old screen back in to verify that everything was working and the old screen was fine

so now it seems that the digitiser circuitry has developed a fault - the are several drive chips that support the touch screen and one of them must have caved - I am completely gutted, probably 1 in 1000 that would fail this way, I even took antistatic precautions when working with the phone

so now I'm going to have to send the new screen back for replacement and will probably take at least a month

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I know how you feel.
I went through such cr...p once with X2.
It made me leave SE for half a year for WP7.

I still don't know what was the issue but the screen started to act like I was touching it,
although I wasn't.

yeh I know I was really pleased that everything turned out good, I even emailed the screen supplier a few days ago letting them know how pleased I was

very tempted to just buy another Z1 and keep that one as a spare once I've fixed it, I'd probably be looking at 6 weeks before it's up and running again and I can't live with my P1i for that long lol

At least I now the innards blindfolded - I could take that thing apart and back together in about 30mins now I've had so much practise

yeah if you can afford it, get another Z1 or a Z1 compact and use the "broken" one as a spare.

that's what i'd do.. just a matter of what you can afford.
