yeah if you can afford it, get another Z1 or a Z1 compact and use the "broken" one as a spare.
that's what i'd do.. just a matter of what you can afford.
I've gone through some money with phones this past year......Z stolen 500gbp - Ultra bought and sold with slight loss 100gbp - Z1 broke the screen myself 400gbp plus 150 for parts to repair, just ordered a new Z1 360gbp
= nearly 1500gbp the last 12 months
but I guess I now have 2x Z1's lol - and a huge collection of headsets and chargers

In standby mode. Press and hold shutter button to access camera. It will be in SA mode. You will be able to take picture without screen lock, screen lock will only appear when you want to change mode or review your photo which you just took.

Xperia SP Android 4.3 screenshots leak; could the update be arriving very soon? on XBlog.
Did you see the screenshot?
There's the
WHITE BALANCE setting! Hopefully it already comes with the latest Z1 FW along with the Background Defocus camera app (wishing also the Glove Mode would be included).
I'm looking on the release of the next FW along with the release of either Z1^s or Z1 Compact.

white balance is coming to come with new update in Jan by xperia support team at the official sony forum. Background defocus is exclusive to Z1s, but will most likely make available for the original Z1 in some way. Glove mode will never happen, its not a software feature, Z1 doesn't have the hardware.

ordered the phone yesterday from HK and got a phone call at 9am in Thailand that they had a package for me, had the new phone at 11am - now that was fast, total cost 380gbp
so now I can wait without pressure for the replacement parts to arrive and I will have 2x Z1's (will probably sell one of them
The new phone is perfect - screen as good as the replacement one I got so all good

Good news Geoffxx.. now try to keep the new one from being stepped on, dropped, and/or any other dangers that may befall a smartphone in this day and age
Looking forward to having white balance for sure, though not super critical. I'd like to see what difference it can make though. I will be disappointed if they limit camera apps between the Z1, Z1s, and Z1 compact. They all have the same camera, they should all have the same camera apps and quality. The differences in size should be enough of a differentiation. Luckily, even if it is limited by Sony, people are gonna port it anyway and it should work since it's all the same anyway.
