I wonder how 'Akatsuki' will perform with single redesign 7-piece lens when compare to it Premium counterpart

at this stage if they insisted on single sensor solution
I do think they need FHD+ OLED adding up to make some differences between two flagship products.

What is the redesign 7-piece lens you mention? Is this a new rumour? I have not heard this before, maybe I just missed it...

I am surprised how Sony and HTC still stick to LCD when even the newer Chinese companies are able to source OLED displays.

Well, if they decide to keep just RGB on H84 I hope they insert f1.8 to make it different from XZ2.
Also the in-screen FPS from JDi ( I hope it does not need to cut screen protector like Synaptics').

@ spek Please , insert 4K HDR for front camera on Premium and next devices. 8MP supports 4K.

I'd rather stick to FHD+ LCD because of how good XZ2's display really is. Yes it doesn't have OLED-level deep blacks, but the blacks are very good for an LCD and it is simply gorgeous.

FHD+ on OLED panels are terrible, look at Pixel 2 XL, for example. The only OLED displays that are great were produced by Samsung (iPhone X, S9).

As good as OLED sounds to you, really, it isn't that good at times. To me, it's only good for TVs and a miniscule of smartphones. Even Samsung and Sony flagship TVs have LCD (Samsung's QLED TVs and Sony's two-year old Z9D).

If they can make better OLED displays than any OLED phones out there, I wouldn't be mad, I would support them to do that, actually.

Different how exactly? Aren't they both just using a fourth (white) sub-pixel?

Is this somewhere confirmed that the XZ2P 7 lens setup would be used on the IFA device?

I am sure there are photos from the xz2p that only use the one colour sensor, so the quality of those photos should be an indicator of what one could expect from the ifa device(s).

Of course the use of f1.8 lens would also help with the photos.

In theory yes they are similar but not same layout.

The answer is very clear: SONY and HTC want to stay at LCD as long as possible. We all see how bad the OLED can bring to us. Burn-in still here, some may never happen, some appear in just a few month. Samsung use it just because they produce it. Cost is nothing on them. Chinese company is just buying those low quality OLED display.

Still remember Sony Mobile hiring OLED specialist? That days will come anyway. Not much time for Xperia to survive.

(I am 80% believe that 2019/2020 is the deadline for Xperia, either keep or shut down. 5G is their very last chance.)

The sad news is XZ2P single cam is as good as the XZ2.
Large aperture won't be a good idea. Adjustable will be better. U don't need 1.8 under sunlight. If they can put ND filter will be even better.

Good evening ...

http://m.eprice.com.tw/mobile[....]ony-xperia-xz2-premium-review/

You can compare samples of MOTION EYE DUAL ( left) x MOTION EYE ( right) .
Now you can have idea on how uselful AUBE can be.
They are full sized, so you can download and check on your computer..

They look better if you resize to 8MP or less.

Even with white pixel.this screen seems to be better than previous 4K.
Those Bravia techs do miracles...

Nope, just optimistic but my tolerance will not last for very the same camera setup from last year.

The answer is very clear, they're both broke (mobile division)
and not really good at taking risk unlike those Chinese businesses

I think bit different approach with 2021 is deadline because telecommunications licensee patent from Ericsson will reach it 10th anniversary in 2022 and decision to extending is about time to happen or not?

Anyway, World Cup 2018 is weird to me, Sony didn't take BRAVIA advertise to stadium banners,
AFAIR it is Toshiba Regza take opportunity which is totally puzzle me
