Sorry to hear about your tale of woe...my experiences with Sony Ericsson and Vodacom have overall been good, especially when it came to customer care.
It should be as simple as loading new fw onto the phone but seemingly, from what you're telling us, Vodacom has done more bad then good.

Ja nee, a buddy from Ghana has been teasing me non-stop, every message contains helpful hints such as hanging the coach, castration, etc. Does anybody know of good pc sites for Nokia software for aforesaid buddy? I was tempted to send him a virus, just because...

Happy new year Brix!
I'm totally happy with SE/Voda to be honest. I heard the k600 was kinda flimsy brix. I dunno first hand though.
I really hope cell c buck up cause it can only be a good wake up call to the other networks.
The W810 looks stunning though. it's a k750 with edge and a 512 mb card!
But I have to wait till October. Oh well, bigger and better things I'm sure.

Heya Siosal!
I recall the middle of last year, Tahir saying that we would have a 3mp cameraphone available in SA by December 2005...well, we're still waiting. The K600, which I predicted would be released on MTN never came our way which is a pity.
I read funny article in the newspaper this afternoon. Some bloke is complaining about how bad MTN's reception is in Constantia, then in the very next paragraph it's explained that the reason for his reception is so due to the fact that the area's ratepayers have refused to have a mast constructed.
Check out his website...www.cellhell.co.za (nice take on the Hellkom craze)

The problem with them is that they always want to open the phone to check for liquid damage even if u tell them whats the problem.

LOL @ bongzino...Thats simply a trick by Vodacom to say that you warrantee is void if they can find liquid damage.
The fact is though that unless your phone is sweating like a pig(see-through pouch) or you have a tendency to drop it in pools of water there is no chance of significant liquid damage.
And to think that Vodashop actually sells these see-through pouches. Me thinks they should come with a warning.

Yeah brix, that whole mtn reception thing is inda odd. But hey, it's the little things in life that make it interesting.
I'm sure the k600 will eventually be brought over to voda. (i mean mtn got black berry after a while didn't they?)
I hear a lot of people are divided on the p990. Smaller screen but more features. I guess you have to sacrifice certain thing sto keep production costs low. I really like w900 though. Caught my ineterst there.
The nokia n series baffles me. Other than being on the bulky side, they just don't grab me. Although I'm glad they have gone away from the confusing number only system. Getting to play with the new samsungs too. What? The D600 can't vibrate AND ring? Oh dear. I never did really like the slide phones though. Couldn't hit the 1 2 3 buttons well and you really have to hold with 2 hands when dialling or typing.
I know quite a few people moving from mtn to voda this year. I don't really know the why's, but there you go. On the subject of vodacom, all well and good that they chose that rather annoying "i like the way" as their theme song, but as if they diidn't over play the song on the radio in the first place, we now have it introducing just about every other song on the high 5 @ 5. Thats killing me.
And that.... animal thats now their mascot. I cringe... really. It's the equivalent of a freakin telletubby. But I guess everyone has to have something annoying (the hello summa guy anyone?).
Ah well...

What's with all the anger at Vodacom's little meerkat...I think the ad is much better then last year's striptease ad for Vodafone Live which was annoying.
I seriously doubt we'll be seeing the K600 in South Africa.
I'm a bit late on this but while browsing Vodacom's website I discovered that they had quietly
launched a Push-to-Talk service which is currently only available to corporate subscribers.
*R199 p/m for 500 pushes, every push after that will cost 35 cents.
*Introductory special of R149 p/m to get people pushing.
Check out the site, there's nice guide to this "new" technology which uses VoIP via GPRS...quite nifty if you ask me...hopefully it will be widely available come the end of this year when people are bored with video calls.
