AMD chips have a slower internal bus speed, slower fsb, and run much hotter. They are a compromise by AMD to make a chip cheaper than intel can.
Now that peeps think AMD is some sort of Chip making God, AMD have started to expect the same price for their chips as intel.
It's very smart how AMD get 3700 MHz of performance (compared to an intel 3.6GHz for example) out of a "3700" 2000MHz chip. However the trade off is heat, masses of it, and I still don't think the AMD's are as fast a Intel except in some very specific situations (such as gaming). Still for the same performance in games, the intel will run shitloads cooler.

I have 286at @ 16Mhz, 1Mb RAM, 40Mb HDD, and VGA. It's now about 12y old. Still works like a charm. :-)
