Ok, but would you say the ultimate goal would be to have a Muslim only world?

Isn't that the goal of Christianity aswell?..according to the bible no other religion is permitted.

Islam and Christianity are not that different, both want to dominate the world.

axxxr, I agree, but would add the term "fundemental" (which reminds me of another interesting thread )

Most mulsims and most christians don't really care what others believe. Fundamentalist's of both religions believe that it is their way or the highway.

if we start talking about evangalising one's religion, what about the christians? They can be just as offensive, many many christians believe that their religion is the only "true way", many are no better than hardline muslims.

Whenever any person says "this is the only way, the light, the glory, the only path to god" they exclude anyone with a different view point, even if they are nice about it and don't actually kill anyone over it. That's why I've never felt inclined to follow a religion. I'm a very spiritual person, but I don't have religious bone in my body. THERE IS a difference between spirituality and religion.

Regarding the HAJ, the only problem is that Saudi government hasn't recognised how importanbt the event is to muslims. The are a secular state (virtually) and haven't really accepted that more needs to be done to ensure the safety of participants of the HAJ. They must take billions in income everytime the HAJ comes around, so surely they can do more to ensure a safe time for all who come?

I saw a program on Thursday bout Hajj, and the Saudi government has lotsa procedures in place and know what needs to be done. They quite aware of the masses as its been happening for years and years!!

Besides that u might not understand, if you really do some research ill try and help if you interested.

I saw a video on the news last night, the whole stampede as they call it, happened in less than a minute!!

mate please don't act like I'm an idiot. Did I ever make out you were? So you saw a program, how does that make you more knowledgeable than I? Even if I hadn't done the research that you have, how does that make me incapable of understanding? That's just a useless slur. Usually I respect your input 786BKR, but this is really insulting.

If they are as aware of the problem as you claim, why are they taking steps to try and make it safer next year? Surely they should have done this years ago, if they were aware of the problem? To state they will be making it safer next year, they must have to accept that there is some problem that they haven't rectified up to now. I'm not blaming the saudi's for causing the problem, that's obviously bollocks. I'm just saying they benefit from it financially so it's in their interest to continue to try and make it safer.

It's called stewardship, and while you and I may think of these muslims milling around as sheeplike, you would still ensure sheep don't all chase eachother off a cliff now wouldn't you? Sometimes authorities have such a social role and if they refuse to act on it then they are negligent.

I enjoy these heated discussions, that is untill people start calling names or casting doubt on eachother's intelligence. We can have difference's of opinion without resorting to slandering eachother.
