Can anyone recommend a video encoder that runs on Mac, and will encode videos for P990i?

Thanks

If it gives me the best quality, like M3 does compared to many converters, free or not, installing .net isn't really a problem since some other apps need it as well. M3 also doesn't install a lot of codecs on your system unlike many other converters. It keeps it's own codecs and uses the ones you have already if it's a strange format. The fact that it's GUI is very easy and that it even has support for subs makes it superior in my opinion.

However, it doesn't hurt to experiment with others as well to find your own favourite.

Well if you want simplicity just use M3.

I've just noticed this thread, it's nice to see M3 compares so well against all the other converter software.

Here we got M3 dev man. Plz dont misunderstand my view, Im really pleased with every new app/tool made by great ppl like you
Its just I found Super quite hard to beat (simple n with many options) and in other hands I keep my PC "light" (dont use .net... indeed hardly use java n flash only because of their massive use in web sites). About number of codecs, c'mon if we use windows n deal with videos we MUST have several codecs inthere.

That's fair enough, some people do prefer Super.

Personally i don't think it gets the same quality for the same bitrates though. On as mobile phone you want maximum quality for a given bitrate, as bitrate itself is the limiting factor on most phones. They can only decode so much data per second.

I can't understand the hostility toward .net from a few people. It doesn't use any extra memory really, perhaps one or two MB compared to straight win32 c++ or vb. It also doesn't run in the background all the time, it's basically a bunch of dlls that apps can link against at runtime. It's just like installing directx, just a bunch of extra dlls for some software to use. It's certainly not as bad as java!

It's really not true that you need to install dozens of codecs, as super does. I find i can play any video file using a couple of directshow splitters and ffdshow. That's a much 'lighter' solution than installing so many different codecs, much less bloat or complications/conflictions.

One of the fastest ways to break a windows installation is to install one of those big codec-packs like k-lite. hehe.
