Quote:E61 or E70 is a directcompetition to P990, and in both cases P990 loses. not to mention, E61 is already available and costs around 300 euros less offering more .

Hi, thanks for your info, and I just did a check on allaboutsymbian which shows ?? for available RAM for the N80.

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/devices/item/Nokia_N80.php

So it seems like only My-symbian is showing 18MB at boot time.

@ quila2,

"it is simply not true the 10MB you stated. "

How many times do you need me to repeat that I DID NOT STATE N80 having 10MB of RAM, but rather, I was using mobile-review's N80 OWNERS' who feedback over that particular forum? If you want to QUOTE anyone, please go to mobile-review's forum and pick those owners who claim the 10MB RAM.

well, did you try E61 ?

the ergonomics is _way_ better then P series.

I've been using various touch screen based devices since 1999 but I find the ergonomics of P-series the worst I've ever experienced.

the problem is exactly that you _must_ use at least two hands to operate the phone. horrible.

and on the old P-series, the jog dial was a 5way button, wheres in the P990 it is two way only! this could be a real mess ...

Well, as a matter of fact, I did. I attended local Nokia's seminar at their invitation a few months back. Yes, I tried E61 and I find it funny that you can claim a Blackberry challenger device which is much wider than a BB 8700g to be more ergonomical than a P series? If, as what you claimed, that a P series phone cannot be operated with only ONE hand, the you can forget about the E series of phones being economical. E61's QWERTY keyboard is so wide and it definiftely needs 2 hands to operate.

Strangely, as opposed to what you think, I honestly don't think anyone needed 2 hands in order to operate the flip closed keypad of ANY P series... Please don't flame me, but perhaps you can ask the millions of current P series owners whether they can operate the keypad using only 1 hand?

And lastly, yes, I will listen to Arez for his advice. Thanks Arez

Hi all,
I just stumbled across this very interesting thread and i must say it made for some very interesting reading and also quite amusing as it seems most that were shouting the virtues of Symbian being Ram efficient and there awesome multitasking abilities now seem to of been proved utterly and completely wrong. The latest incarnations of Symbian are now Ram eating monsters irrespective of which manufacturer has implemented them as this was meant to be a P990 or N93 thread prior to both being available and now they are it is only down to personal preference and needs as to which one is the right choice both have there plus and minus points.

Forget the N93...now there's the N95 with 5Mpixel camera and integrated GPS!

I'll still keep my 990i though

In the latest firmware, N80 bootup free RAM is about 23MB. N93 also have about this free RAM. The P990 UIQ OS is a hog using 45Mb leaving 19Mb free on boot.

P990 (if it is stable) is a more compelling buisness device than N93. On all other fronts, N93 beats the P990 with its much better hardware spec. And N93 somehow looks nicer than the blocky p990.
