I'm disappointed just how little customisation is allowed in a SE Skin. More like colour + wallpaper than a real skin.
You are joking!!! You can change more parts of the skin than you could shake a stick at. Every control (buttons, radios check boxes, scroll bars) can be changed. The selection highlights, the title bars, the return button at the top of the top. Unfortunately there is a slight problem with SE's theme editor, in that it doesn't provide access to some of the things you can change - but you can round that if you want to.
Most of the skins I've seen so far do unfortunately only change pretty much the colours and the wallpapers. Mainly because that's quick and easy. It'd take some time to do a full theme.

Ah, I didn't know that. In my defence, if SE's own editor doesn't fully work yet then you can hardly blame me for not spotting the full extent of what's skinable.

Is there another theme creator besides the one from Sony Ericsson?

@rougeJay
If you can point out how to get this done in the SE theme editor it would be highly appreciated!

Can't find a way to add an attachment, so here's a link:

lol. That's fair enough. Although the editor is pretty comprehenisve. There are only a few bits that you can't change directly.

I assume you mean the return button. And sod's law says that as a follow on from my previous comments, it's one of the ones that you can't get to normally.
I'm typing this from a different computer, so I can't verify, but this should work.
- Firstly, the image is 2 images side by side. The one on the left is the normal image, and the right is the image when the button is pressed
- When you've created your theme, unzip the utz file, maintaining the directory structure
- Add your bitmap to the location of all the other bitmaps (Graphics I think)
- Open the theme.xml file in the top directory, and search for a section Code:<skin id="TitleBar">
- Just before the closing of this section, add something along the lines of
Code:<patch id="TitleBackButton" file="AppTitleBack.png">
<drawProperties drawMode="Stretch" leftMargin="6" rightMargin="6" topMargin="6" bottomMargin="6"/>
</patch>
- Rezip all the files into a new utz
The easiest way to understand this is to unzip one of the SE themes and look around.
I really hope SE kick their editor into shape, or someone else creates one.
