Well at the moment i have an N73 but tomorrow my Black N93 is due to arrive so shortly i will see just how buggy that is. Although i must admit will update the software before i start using it as Nokia now offer this and have just released the first update. I will also give a completely unbiased appraisal be it good or bad shortly. But i must say i am more excited about this phone than the P990 and M660 as its spec list is amazing, the only thing it is missing is a touchscreen and i have decided this is no longer that important to me.

I know that the E61 or E62 is not covered in this thread but the E61 is a big hit at the moment with US tech reviewers - perhaps the future face of Symbian in the USA! If you look at the features for the price it is amazing value - 3G & wifi for around UKP255 SIM free! Much cheaper than the M600 and it has wifi.

Anyone looked at the E61 here in comparison to the M600 of P990?

i admit that i'm a SE fanboy - been with sony/SE since my sony J5 (just loved the jog dial) had the t610, p900 and now a p910. So i've abviously been waiting for the p990.

But i have to admit, nokia have really taken their head out of the sand recently. Just "test drove" a N73 today and i have to say that i'm very impressed. I'm not too keen on the look of the device but feature wise it was spot on.

You see the reason why me and other "SE fanboys" always talk about how rubbish nokia are is because for some years now nokia have been selling weaker spec'ed products to a gulable public who just buy anything nokia puts infront of them.

But i think the competition from SE and samsung has got nokia producing some good phones again. I'm still not totally convinced, nokia have around 25 phones on the market at the moment and about 80% look the same to me, but the "N" series seems a bit special.

All that said, i'll prob end up getting a p990 (or a w950, as the p990 has lost its magic for me) but the N73 is seriously tempting me to a brand i turned my back on a long long time ago.

Ummm according to a review the N93 has a terrible camera, in fact the P990i wipes the floor with it and the n73??, yes nice phone but similar to the N70 with the cramped keyboard layout...i had a play with one earlier this week, no doubt its a nice phone but seriously you cant compare it to the P990i. Its not even close to what the p990i can do and does, one thing i dont like about nokias is their camera's, their quality is terrible. Prime example is the n80 with a supposed 3.2mp cam...but no auto focus??...what were nokia thinking and again the k800i camera beats it hands down.

Nokia makes nice phones but i havent been impressed with their n series range at all.

Spawn I would like to know where this "review" you saw was. I have a SE K800i and a Nokia N73 both have autofocus but the N73 picture quality is much better especially on colour contrast and pictures taken in low light conditions.
Everyone has mentioned the bugs on the Nokias but has anyone actually read about the bugs on the newly released P990?
Both Nokia and Sony Ericsson release phones without all potential bugs being ironed out which is why firmware updates are available. The N80 had some horrendous bugs but these have been almost cleared with the recent updates. There is a (currently) 7 page thread here on Esato going through all the bugs on the P990.
If you want to do a true comparison of the P990, N93 and N73 then you should think about what you want from a phone see which of these 3 phones have those features and then compare them.
Before anyone says I'm a Nokia fanboy, I'm not, I have had all of the "headline" SE phones since the T68i and I think they make some great phones but so do Nokia.

http://my-symbian.com/s60v3/review_n93.php

^ Gave a pretty harsh review of the N93 and its camera.

Personally though, of images taken by both phones i prefer the N93 over the P990i camera any day. Sure, ive not got my hands on one to fully test it yet, but of those i have seen taken with the N93 they impress me more than the P990i.

Its funny how some sites can take excellent pictures with the N93 for their reviews, and then some other websites take really poor pictures.

@ my-symbian you can see zoomed parts of p990 and n93 photos taken with same light conditions - and you can clearly see n93´s has much more noise than P990´s, no doubt about that...be it a good or a bad photo, n93 has more noise

Hi all,
As the very proud owner of a Black N93 for just under 24hrs i have to say this is an excellent phone. It is only slightly larger than a P910i. It's build is Solid and tactile and it oozes quality. The screen is simply stunning even watching Kill Bill in landscape mode the picture has excellent definition and quality of colour. On inserting the Sim card for the first time the phone connects to your network and downloads all Internet, Wap and MMS settings and installs them. On connecting and synching with the PC suite for the first time all my Outlook contacts, diary and notes are on the phone on inserting the 1gb memory card from my N73 this phone is running everything the same as my previous phone inside of 20 minutes to say i am impressed is an under statement.

Web browsing causes no crashes or shutting down of apps and is fast over 3G still to try via WiFi. This is my second phone with the new Safari Browser and i love it especially the mini map view is useful. You use a mouse controlled via the D pad and this is both responsive and easy to place and then click. I am still getting to learn about this phone but so far i really like it, I have taken 1 picture and to be honest it is as good as from my N73 so that is good enough for my needs.

There is already an update that increases Ram at startup from 18.8mb up to 24.75mb, so maybe there is hope this sort of gain can be made with the P990. I really do not think it is fair to compare these products as one is slightly more Business oriented whilst the other is towards MultiMedia. One is a touchscreen device and has a full qwerty keyboard the other doesn't they are very different though both may accomplish the same tasks.

Finally the price i hope you are sitting down for this £99.99 with a 12 month £30.00 per month 200 xnet minutes +250sms total cost £459.99.

I have still to set up the media centre and WiFi and am curious to see how well implemented it is and if it is easy to setup. To who ever said the K800 either shows or takes better video please be real. Below are some of the basic specs that show why at this point in time this really is the cutting edge smartphone and is better speced than any of its rivals.

330mhz processor with 3d graphics accelerator chip
50mb Ram currently 18.8mb on startup upgrading to 24.75mb with first firmware available for download within the next week.
WiFi b/g, Home media software.
Video capture 640x480 30fps
3.2megapixel Carl Zeiss lens, flash good to 1.5m

That to me are some of the major specs the full spec is far too long to list here.

I am happy with my choice for me it does what i want well, but I am not saying everyone would or should have one but to mock it without having seen it just because its not from SE is wrong IMO.

Also we need to understand alot of the units that are used in reviews are far from reatil versions whatever the manfacturers may say. It is foolhardy to rely solely on early reviews of any of the units IMO.
Marc
These are not examples of pics as i am in too much pain and on heavy meds so can't even focus my own eyes never mind a camera.
