Well, I reckon by goldenface's classical definition of a geek, probably very few of us are true geeks. aka, Someone who knows a lot about something technical. Spends too much time indoors, has no social life or girlfriend, spotty with thick specs.

Most of us might apply to one or other of those traits, but a true geek must have all. The only one of those that applies to me is being technical. Oh, yeah and I have no girlfriend though I do have a social life

So I don't think of myself as a geek by that definition. If by "geek" it is meant one who finds technical things intensely interesting, then I am a geek

Maybe that's the difference between geek and nerd? Maybe a geek has a social life and a nerd doesn't?

"Facebook is an online directory that connects people through social networks."

What happened to the good old days of just going out and meeting new people in person?

@joe

Only connetcts you to people you know...so its good for keeping in touch, without a live conversation, it can be useful, but its mainly for picture purposes, myspace is more personal and much less elitest...

Cheers

Which branch? Electrical? Mechanical? Structural?

I did chemistry at university but after graduating, I ended up going back to college and doing an HND in electrical and electronic engineering. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it's a tough subject to do but as long as you're really interested in it, you'll do fine

I never got into Cambridge though, well done!
