> K800i Joystick Problem
Bookmark topic
My last phone (Nokia 6680) had a joypad. SE should adopt that. Obviously problems with having a joystick.
*SIGH* problems problems problems problems problems problems problems problems problems problems problems
It looks like its up to me, you and night_66 to get to the bottom of this!!
Hey, night_66, your friend who works for SE, does he know if they've even acknowledged this problem? Surely SE are aware of Esato and have someone scanning the posts.

It's definitely a problem with the 8 axis thing like nirmalv wrote. If you go to the system menu (the *<*<<... or whatever) and you check the keyboard. It confirms that if you use the joystick it's very difficult because of its size to choose straight down (it actually works once every 2 or 3 times). Most of the time it choses the diagonal left or diagonal right. This can be solved by considering the diagonal down left and diagonal down right the same way as straight down. The current software doesn't consider diagonal movements and thus you hear a click because you actually triggered the joystick but it doesn't move the cursor. In many cases the menu only allows to go up and down anyway.

If its a software issue, why does the joystick get worse?
Mines been fine for >4mths but now its a bit dusty looking around the joystick
and it seems to be sticking /unresponsive.

Yet the WD40 makes the joystick feel as good as new. How does your friend explain that?
Placebo. Please explain to me the magical physics that makes the WD40 pass through this piece of plastic inside the K800:

(the joystick is in the middle, and the soft keys around it)

Well mine was selecting things when trying to move down....and just wasn't moving down through menus effectively (despite making click sound as if it should).
Thought it might be a software problem since still indicated movement with sound but just didn't work.
About to return it for repair when I decided to get out a cotton bud->twist the end to a wisp then insert and clean around the joystick thoroughly and to my shock it worked and no more unresponsive joystick and no more unintentional clicking.
